Suzuki swift battery been tested still having problems starting when damp weather

Couple of week ago car been left all weekend then wouldnt start sounded like battery dead had to bump start took to garage battery tested and fine had winter service then run right since then did exactly same again this morning however it had been out over weekend on short runs. Doesnt seem to like cold damp weather only 3.5 years old. Sounds like something to do with choke because when you come to a junction it judders as you set off as though choke not working properly....thats if it has an inbuilt choke????

This engine doesn't have a choke, it is electronic fuel injection.

The following are the general instructions on the start of diagnosing any electronically controlled engine or transmission problem.

The engine and the automatic transmission (transmission control is only for automatics, engine is still computer controlled no matter the transmission type) in this vehicle are computer controlled and in most cases when a fault occurs a fault code is stored in the memory of the computer control module. There are exception to this, such as the Mass Airflow Meter and fuel pressure problems. What must be done is to have all the basic testing done such as a scan of the system for fault codes as well as a check with a live data scanner tool for engine functions that are not within range of normal, a trained technician is required to know what is correct and what isn't, then based on careful diagnostics done from a factory repair manual the correct part is replaced or the wiring repaired or the computer replaced (known as the PCM or ECM,ECU), which is very rarely the problem. Other basic checks must be done as well such as mechanical problems with the engine as well as engine state of tune and mileage on the engine. The transmission can have mechanical issues as well such as no gear engagement at all or a failed pump or other pressure related problems. Also engine mechanical problems can and do cause many drive-ability related problem such as rough idle and other symptoms.

SOURCE: Suzuki Grand Vitara 1999:

Going by your description I think it could be something different, I would have the brake master cylinder checked, if you are suffering brake failure and shuddering it sounds like your callipers arent getting equal pressure when you apply the brakes. Or a freat lack of pressure to suffer brake failure. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Seems like a starter or battery problem-truck is slow to star.

Look at the voltage while the its cranking. If it drops to below 11 volts clean the terminals. If they are clean and it still drops to below 11v replace the starter. Get it tested first.. If the battery and terminals pass, then replace the starter. But to do this correct go to any mechanic or even an auto zone. They can test the battery, charging system and alternator in about 5 minutes with a special tool.

Petrol smell in car

Check all gas lines from your gas tank to the carburetor and see if there are damp spots and if you see any damp spots take your finger and wipe the damp spot and smell. If it smells like gas there probably is a slight leak. even a moist spot of gas will smell big time.
Check all around your gas tank as well. A question i have do you have a clean air filter. If not it might be choking itself to *****.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee has started needing a jump to get started about once a week.. had the alternator and battery tested, both are good. 2 nights ago it wouldnt start, so I got a jump and drove it...

I would have a load test done on the battery as there is a dead cell evident from the number of jump starts you need. Have an auto electrician test the alternator for charge rate and out put. check drive belt condition and tension.

1999 VW Bettle shuts off when put in reverse, and is iffy if it actually wants to start?

The problem with it not starting and what you described is most likely caused by the battery cables. You should replace the whole cable from each post on the battery all the way to where it connects to the engine. The part about it dieing in reverse could be related to the loss of ground connections on the computer.

2001 Suzuki Swift difficult in starting

It could be.
If you check the relay with a meter or test light and can confirm the relay is always sending power back to the pump, then the pump would be suspect.

Ford focus wont start

Check the make sure the battery connectors are connected. Sometimes the cable comes loose from the battery. Check your battery see if a jump will start it. If it does it could be your battery.

1998 Mitsubishi 3000GT starts, but the engine dies after anywhere from 5 to 60 seconds

You need to run an OBD2 fault code test with a code reader, that is the number one thing that must be done since this engine is computer controlled.
