Where does the fuel leak coming from? If its coming from the new filter, then you have to redo your installation making sure the fittings are tight.

I have changed the fuel pump and the fuel filter and car started for a couple days now it isnt starting and it smells like it is flooding itself. could I have the fuel filter on wrong

check the fuel filter some where on fuel filter there should be a arrow or a in or out labled on it
if has arrow arrow should point to front of car
if has in or out IN should be tank side of filter
if that checks out ok check for a fuel leak
possible places for fuel leak would be fuel filter connections connections to tank or if lines are rusty they could be leaking
my best guess is you got a fuel leak somewhere

Engine code p0171 bank 1 lean

i would try a new fuel filter if its due for one anyway. my car was setting that code but ran fine. i changed fuel filter and that took care of it. of course there is other stuff like fuel pressure or vacuum leaks or plugged injectors that can cause that code. but a fuel filter if one is due anyway is a good place to start.

I tried changing a fuel filter on a 2002 saturn vue and the line wouldn't quit leaking? I pulled off the fuel pump relay and let it run out of gas before I started but it still wouldn't stop leaking? What...

When you change these fuel filters, they are basically gravity fed from the tank if the tank is full enough. You sometimes have to just hurry up in the fuel filter install process and slip that filter back in quickly, a little bit(sometimes more) will be spillled on the ground, can catch it with a drain catch bucket.Any questions get back to me, I HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

Car want start

The mechanic should check on the fuel filters , the spray nuzzle and the fuel lines . The fuel filters "the primary and the secondary filters".If these filters are dirty fuel are hard to enter because the dirt keeps on blocking the fuel to pass or go to the engine . The spray nuzzle if it is also dirty then the fuel also is hard to spray or to pass for engine compression. The fuel lines if the fuel lines are worn out or have leak then it should e replaced. These spare parts if they are been worn out or dirty they should be clean or some times be replaced . for good so that fuel will not spill too much on the car.For these problems can cause fuel leaks or engine problems it will result to engine lubrication.

What causes misfire

lots of things can cause this, plugged fuel filter, tune up, water in the fuel, vacuum leaks, mass air flow sensor, etc. Start with the easiest things first. Put some chemicals in the fuel tank to dissipate any water, change the fuel filter, then start checking for air leaks.
