As for the aircondition problem, you can use the Multi-Diag Access J2534, it has the function for air condition, such as Diagnosis of cooling electronic,Reading settings cooling circuit,Test servo actuators. But as for the lock, would you tell what locked?
FROM YOUR DESCRIPTION IT SOUNDS LIKE THE A/C CLUTCH ON YOUR COMPRESSOR IS GOING BAD. U EITHER HAVE TO GET CLUTCH REPLACED BY EXPERIENCED COMPRESSOR REBUILDER OR REPLACE COMPRESSOR AS A WHOLE
there seem to be two different problems with you Explorer.
If all power windows are inoperable, there seems to be a blown fuse. You´ll find a fuse table and diagram within your owner´s manual.
If the fuse is O.K., there has to be a problem with the power windows control module, you have to see a mechanic to service that.
The cause of the inoperable air conditioning is probably a lack of coolant or a defecitve a/c compressor clutch, these are the most common failures on AC Systems. Unfortunately there are no user serviceable parts on an A/C system so this ist a job for the mechanic too.
Your Orifice tube is probley clogged and needs replaced i wouldnt recomend this be done by someone not trianed to do tho also with new laws regarding freon unless you have acess to a reclaimer it is illegal to do becuase entire sytem has to be drained to get to tube
You might check the cooling fans on the condenser to see if they are running when the ac is on.If they are not check for blown fuse,or bad cooling fan relay.Do you notice if the ac cools better when running constantly, and the ac is not so cool when in traffic, stopping and going, and running slow?If so the cooling fan,or fans are not working. If the fan fuse and the relays check out fine, then replace the fan,or fans.If I can help any more please [email protected]
I have the same problem, when running the air conditioning the front vents will blow hot air. I have not removed the dashboard yet, but I think that the air damper is stuck in the open position. It seemed like a heater core valve problem, but I am pretty sure it is a damper under the dashboard. Now however, I am finally getting some cool air out of the airconditioning vents, but when winter comes, I am afraid I will struggle getting heat again.
the rear airconditioning uses a thermal expansion valve to control the amount of refrigerant evaporating into the rear evaporator, the front does not it uses a fixed orifice which cannot compensate for anything. what usually happens is that the refrigerant level is low and the rear expansion valve "steals" all of the available refrigerant.
I would recommend having the system evacuated and recharged by weight first(definetly the cheapest way to go). twice i had to replace the txv for the rear a/c because it was stuck open(in the last 10 years! ... not very common). also ther could be a door in the hvac system that is not covering the heater core. american automobile manufacturers usually heat up the heater core at all times and block the airflow when they don't need it, but air always flows through the a/c evaporator assembly(if the a/c is'nt on it's not cold). and last the cooling fan for the a/c system, and the cooling system on the car, is coupled to the engine by a viscous coupling that could have worn out(very unlikely). if that were the case you should have adequite cooling at speed, but warn up at a stop(also symptom of low charge) i hope that this information helps usual leak sources on gm are the compressors.
good luck
It does have air conditioning installed. It may also have rear a/c. The rear a/c evaporator is probably leaking freon. I have replaced many rear evaporators on 2006 and 2007 Chrysler minivans as a result of a design change in 2006. Recharge the a/c and add dye to the system. If it has rear air, look behind the right rear wheel in the fender area under the car where the a/c lines go into the body.
