Depending on the year model, the Prius anti theft system has to be reset by the dealer. It gets hooked to Toyota dealer computer.

For some reason on Toyota and some Lexus vehicles certain check engine light CEL issues also result in the ECU lighting up the vsc trac and vsc off lights. The ECU actually switches these anti skid and anti lock brake systems off and the lights are to remind you that they are disabled. 1) Check that the fuel cap is on securely 2) Check the oxygen sensors on the exhaust, check that connections are clean and there are no missing wires. 3) Have someone check the on-board diagnostic codes if the CEL is still on

ABS is the anti binding system this is the system that reduces your car from skidding if you break hard. on older cars you may have been told to pump the break in an emergency to reduce skidding well ABS does that for you.

it is still possible to drive your car without ABS but the light may be indicating something else that is wrong with your breaking system I recommend you have this checked by a certified machanic or dealership.

The flashing key-inside-a-car means the anti-theft system is working properly. On page 84 of the 2009 Prius owners manual, the explanation indicates that a flashing key-inside-a-car is normal, and is desired. It should extinguish when the automobile is operating. It may be distracting, but it's a good thing!!

You set 2 codes when you did the front brakes. Both are hydraulic malfunction codes for the front wheels. It set these as you pumped the brakes to get the pedal up the first time. All you need to do is clear the codes. It happens on all Toyota hybrids, Prius, Highlander, Camry ect when you do the front brakes. Just find a place that will clear the codes for you. There is no malfunction..

As far as I know, both my original 2005 and my current 2007 flash that light when the car is off. I believe that is the whole point - to show any would-be thief that the car may be "protected." A small battery can flash an LED light for weeks or months or even longer, so I wouldn't worry about the blinking LED draining your Prius' 12V battery.
