There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.

SOURCE: 93 lincoln mark v111 antifreeze radiator, how do i

When you top off the radiator you fill it to the neck where the cap goes. When the engine heats up the antifreeze eventually will distribute and the excess will go into the overflow bottle.

After the car cools, it will draw the antifreeze from the overflow tank into the radiator. Then check the level line on the overflow bottle(tank) for the normal amount of antifreeze per marks on the bottle.

You should have your radiator cap checked for its pressure rating. Use the type of cap which allows for an overflow system. The older caps would not let the antifreeze flow both ways.

check, temperature of upper radiator hose vs. lower radiator hose, also if there are any cold spots in radiator usaully indicates bad thermostat. all hoses and surface of radiator should be hot in order to keep engine cool

W to bleed the radiator of air

there is a bleed port on the upper radiator hose. this port is opened with the use of a flat head screwdriver. be careful not to crank it all the way around. it simply goes a quarter to half turn to open. if you crank it all the way you will break it. allow the air to release while the the car is running till you see coolant coming out. at that point close the port. i would recommend doing this at least three or four times.

If I read correctly, you said you changed DCCV, did you bleed the air out of the system? If not this will cause this as well.

Lincoln LS 2000 keeps over heating. Changed thermostat. Still overheating!

Could be several things - you will need to figure out if the cooling system is working or if the engine is producing extra heat such as with a restricted exhaust.
Check the radiator fan and the water pump.

2000 lincoln ls heater not working...thermostat?

- If temp guage reads normal, the lack of heat may be due to the Heater Control Valve. Located in front of the radiator. Lower passenger side. A real bugger to replace.
- The plastic cap just over the thermostat is key in re-filling the anti freeze and bleeding air.
