2008 Mustang...cold air comes from vents when heater is on. If car runs for a while, eventually the air will warm up. Could take up to 20 minutes for this to happen. And, seems to happen after RPMs get up to a certain number. Any ideas?

Sounds like you may have a partially plugged heater core. You could flush this out separately, from flushing radiator & engine block. Diconnect heater hoses going to your heater core and clamp off, so not to loose coolant from engine. Now hook up separate hose to one side of heater core pipe and flush out with typical garden hose. Repeat procedure on both heater core inlets. Reconnect original heater hoses and test difference. You may have to add an additional litre of antifreeze. If this don't work i suggest changing heater core. Good luck.........Ron.

Symptoms: heater blows hot while driving/higher rpms but blows considerably cooler when at idle.

If you do not know the last time you had your heater core flushed, then it is long overdue,,,try this first. Cheap and easy to due, or about 75 bucks to have it done at your local shop. You will be amazed at the crud that will come out. This is the stuff that plugs your heating system. You should notice the difference immediately.

Replace the thermastat with a higher temp rating, but first make sure that the fluid level is optimal,....low fluid will cause this,,,as will an old thermastat

Why does the heater blow hot air when I drive after its been idling for 15min and not during the idle when it reaches the 100 Temp?...(it blows cold air in idle)

Firstly, a thermostat that opens quicker will not give you better heat. Your heater core may be partially plugged causing a low flow issue. Another area to check would be the water pump impeller for corrosion or slipping on the shaft. Does the vehicle's cooling system operate well otherwise?

97 jeep grand Cherokee wont blow hot or cold air on any setting and the blower motor is fine

is your car warmed up? if it is already warm, probably you have a clogged heater core and/or airpocket in system.

to bleed airpocket, raise the front part and try to bleed air from bleeding screw. you will see bubbles if there are any after few minutes of idling.

if nothing helps you will understand that you need a new cabin heater or you need to try to clean debris out. be informed that this requires you t remove almost all parts of dash.

My 2001 jeep cherokee sport loses heat when ever I am idling. hot air blows when I am driving but if I stop at a light or idle in my gargage it blow freezing cold air. What can be wrong and what needs to...

the doors for this vehicle are vacuum powered. you likely have a hose leaking allowing the door to creep open at low vacuum(idle) short term fix would be to run a hose directly to a vacuum souce to the actuatior on the top of the heater box.(get at it normally through the glove box)

The A/C and heating problems in GC's is most often caused by broken blend doors, which control the flows of hot and cold air.

1999 Jeep Cherokee sport/air vents do not blow out cold or hot while it is on

this sounds like the recirculation door in the heater box is broken and this is a difficult and can be an expensive repair as the dash has to be removed for access. a quick check for this is if you release the glove box and let it hang you will see the heater box if you reach up to the left top you will feel a grid and the recirc flap is housed there you can operate the blower and hot and cold and see if flap moves

Cold air when the heater is on.

The center blend housing on the heater/a/c assembly is probably broken.
