1998 Lexus SCs 300 spoiler (3rd) brake light wiring diagram which illustrates where this assembly receives it power from? Problem is the light is out. LED display works but the wiring is disconnected (possibly by the garage personnel doing the state's safety inspection. We can see the exposed two disconnected wires (one green/white and one black ) tunneling to the spoiler assembly thru the right trunk hinge and we've removed the entire trunk lining, but don't see any disconnected wire(s). All the other wiring to rear tail lights and such are intact. Does anyone known where the power wire would be located or a source for the wiring diagram??

Easy. You can do it. Nothing special other than the clips that hold it in may be tight.

Use a small thin blade screwdriver. Gently pry off where the small slots are located.

SOURCE: Brake lights aren't working on my 2000 Lexus Rx

Hi the problem you are having is more than likely the brake light switch so to find the switch you need to have a real close look at the brake pedal then if you follow the brake pedal to the very top you should see the switch behind the brake pedal at the top, this is where you switch is located, it may have come loos or even might just need tightening up slightly, if that dont work then your going to need to replace the switch, its not hard to do but just have a look first so you have got some idea what you are dealing with.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

I have a 2007 Infiniti G35s sedan. I installed an OEM spoiler & spliced the spoiler wires to the 3rd brake light wires. Non of the brake lights work now including the 3rd & spoiler. What did I do?!...

Sounds like you have lost ground somewhere along the way. might try running a ground from spoiler to frame or simply replacing wires back to original and trying again. Would put my money on a ground wire. good luck

How to replace 3rd brake light on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?

the 3rd brake light is mounted to the spoiler. you need to remove the spoiler from the liftgate to acces the mounting bolts and the wire clip. there are five points of attachment of the spoiler, four hex nuts (metric) and one snap clip. two are accessable when the liftgate is open, they are in the corners of the liftgate. two more are under the upper rear window interior trim. the interior trim is held on by snap clips. if you pry outward on the trim starting on the right side of the window and work your way toward the middle you will be able to gain access to the two other nuts. once you have removed all four nuts, then close the liftgate and remove the spoiler by lifting up to disengage the last attachment point (snap clip). you will then need to change the light by removing the two nuts and disconnecting the wire clip. re-instal is the opposite of above. make sure that the wire for the third brake light does not get pinched when installed. (mine was improperly installed from the factory and the wire was pinched and this may have been why there was an early failure of the light)

How to replace third brake light on 1997 lexus es 300

"To get access to the 3rd brake light:

- Place each hand against both sides of the plastic housing, and firmly grasp and pull the housing towards you. It might not budge at first, but it should move once you get a good grip on it.

- Pull the housing out just enough so that you can see the brake light bulb and stick your hand underneath. Ignore the speaker wires.

- Pull out the old bulb from the socket (it plugs in/out). Wear rubber gloves when handling the new bulb, and put the new one into the socket.

- Reverse the steps here to put the 3rd brake light back into place. Test out your brake light, and you're done" quoted from lexusk8 @ clublexus.com (great forum)

Check the brake fluid in the reservoir first. As brakes wear, the level goes down. If the pads are worn far enough, the light may come on while driving. If the brakes haven't been replaced recently, have them checked for wear also.

2005 Lincoln Ls 3rd Brake Light Wiring

The best way to wire a third brake light is to run the wire directly from the brake light switch on the side of the steering colum to the light. You will need a test light to find out what wire lights up when you push the brake pedal. Then you can splice into it when you run your wire to the rear light.

How do I change the bulb 2004 infiniti high mount bake light?

Unfortunately, these are not very simple. If you have a factory high mount brake light-meaning not one in a spoiler, you have to remove the rear seats, the rear parcel shelf and then the 3rd brake light. the 3rd brake light I believe is an LED setup which get replaced as an assembly which inserts into the housing. If you need further guidance let me know.

Thanks,

Brian
