SOURCE: Windscreen wiper problem

The left and right wiper are on the same fuse and same switch, as well as the same wiper motor. That being said- if one works and the other doesn't, the fault lies with the wiper motor itself, or with the wiper shaft (where the arm connects to the motor.)

A wiper motor has 2 output shafts that either wiper arm connects to. At the base of your left wiper arm is a small cap. (there's one on the right side too, but let it be since it is working!) Remove this and unbolt the wiper arm from the output shaft and pull outwards to remove it.

When you examine the assembly you will notice that the wiper arm and output shaft are splined, which allows the rotational movement of the output shaft to be transferred to the wiper arm. It is common for the contact area of these splines to become damaged. This is often caused by excessive drag on the wiper arm and blade. (ie running the wipers over a dry windshield, or trying to unstick a wiper blade that is frozen to the windshield)

The 1st test is to turn on the wipers and observe the now exposed wiper shaft. Does it spin at all? If it does then problem is damaged splines on the wiper arm. (the arm is made of much softer metal than the output shaft, which makes it easier to repair this problem.)

If it turns out that the splines are damaged the 1st thing to try is to clean them up a bit. I have had luck using a very sharp awl to trace the path of the splines. A locksmiths file is very useful if you need to reshape them a bit. After cleaning up the splines reattach the wiper arm and see if it works. If not the arm will need to be replaced.

Now, if you test to see if the output shaft is turning and it is motionless while the other side wipes away, then the wiper motor and assembly needs to be replaced.

When reinstalling the wiper arm do your best to make its position match the other arm. press it onto the shaft and run the wipers a bit to make sure it is where you want it before bolting it back up.

SOURCE: wipers willnot return to park position

I've fixed this problem before. You have to disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor. Put wipers in off position, unbolt the plate on top of wiper, turn wipers on then off. In the off position see where the wiper transmission is position in relation to where the park position is, remove the top plate from wiper motor and position it so as to be able to reconnect the wiper transmission now in the proper place. Please keep me informed. thanks you

SOURCE: how do I replace the right transmission arm from wiper motor 92 R

see if you have a nut on the top of the wiper are that has stripped off. there are splines that hold them on and the arms are both connected to each other. you would need replace the whole assembly that connects to the motor.

2005 Tahoe rear windshield wiper inoperative in dash panel position 1or2

Rear Wiper/Washer System Components
The rear wiper/washer system consists of the following components:
• Rear wiper/washer switch
• Window wiper module-rear
• Window washer pump-rear
• RR WIPER 15A fuse
• RR WPRB 25A fuse
Rear Wiper/Washer System Operation
The rear wiper module controls rear wiper motor operation. Battery voltage supplied to the module is used to operate the wiper motor in all modes and to return the rear wiper arm to the park position after the ignition is turned off. Accessory voltage supplied to the rear wiper/washer switch is used to supply the rear window wiper and washer switch signal circuits. In wiper switch positions 1 and 2 the wiper switch signal circuit voltage level to the wiper motor module determines the wiper motor delay interval. The rear window washer pump supply voltage circuit is used to provide the operating voltage for the rear washer pump for as long as the rear washer switch is pressed. The rear window washer switch signal circuit is used as a wash signal to the rear wiper motor module to operate the wipers during the rear wash operation.

Wipers stop in the middle of my wishield, will not park properly

Sorry , no adjustment .
Wiper/Washer System Components
The Wiper / Washer System consists of the following components:
• Windshield wiper / washer switch
• Windshield wiper system module / motor
• Windshield washer fluid pump
• Windshield washer fluid level switch
• WPR 25A fuse
Wiper / Washer System Operation
The windshield wiper motor module is part of the windshield wiper motor cover and controls the wiper motor operation. The windshield wiper motor is a 2 speed motor. Windshield wiper DELAY operation is a low speed wiper motor function with a variable delay interval between the wipe cycles. The DELAY interval is controlled through a series of resistors within the wiper / washer switch.
Park Position Operation
When the windshield wiper / washer switch is turned to the OFF position while the wiper motor is somewhere in mid-cycle, the wiper motor module will continue to operate the wiper motor until the wipers reach the park position. If the ignition is turned off while the wipers are in mid-cycle, the wipers will stop immediately where they are. The wipers will park the next time the ignition is cycled to the ON position.

Wipers won't shut off with switch

Could be the park switch in the wiper motor, or the delay circuit board which is also on the motor.
These components would need to be tested.

Ihave a 2003 Ford Explorer & the windshield wipers won't stop working, with the switch turned off or even removed. The only way to stop them is to remove the battery cable.

Sounds like the park switch in the wiper motor is bad. Some manufacturers allwo you to change the circuit board seperately from the motor, sometimes they have to be changed as a unit

Windshield wipers won't cut off and I'm having trouble locating the fuse box to turn them off

The fuse panel is located behind the left hand side of the instrument panel. In your car, the Park switch appears to have failed ON it to park the wipers. the park switch is an integral part of the wiper motor assembly, so replacement would mean having to replace the wiper motor assembly as a unit ... good-day!!
