SOURCE: cam position sensor
The cam position sensor tells your computer when the #1piston is in position and your vehicle will not run without it as it would not know when to fire the cylinders. However, you could be having intermittent problems with it which means it is failing but hasn't broken completely yet. Since you have a code in for the sensor I would check the wiring and connection. If all that looks ok then I would replace the sensor. Better to replace it before it completely fails and strands you someplace.

check the wires connected to hte shift interlock switch in the center console. They are probably broken just where they enter the connector. In order to turn the car off remove the plasict plug on the steering column shroud located just below the ignition switch. Pry it out with a small knife point or screwdriver and insert the end of a suitable tool in to release the soleniod. Turn the key while pushing up on the tool. I had the same issue with my Bravada.

I had the same problem with my 98 Bravada. There is a switch near the gear shift that is engaged when the shifter is in park If the switch is not made, the ignition lock will not operate properly. Remove the shift lever boot and lift the console and you will probably find a broken wire that goes to a push pin type terminal. I purchased several different sized male pin connectors at an auto parts store, crimped it on and it solved the problem.

SOURCE: key doesnt turn
dose your car have a key removal lock ? a lock you have to press befor you can remove the key ?
there is a shift over ride by your shifter. between/around the shifter and the radio (closer to the sifter) there is a small round plastic cover you can remove with a small flat head screw driver. remove this. you will a key or the screw driver and insert it into, what looks like a key hole for your car and turn/press (sorry for being vauge GMC's change year to year) this should allow you to move the shifter into park. make sure the car is off or at lest you have the E-brake on as well as your peddle brakes.
