SOURCE: the top on my 2005 mini cooper s will not go down .

often times this problem ends up needing a front sunroof section of the conv top replaced. The cable that drives the hooks to unlatch is most likely broken and that is currently the only fix. EXPENSIVE. Sorry

SOURCE: 2005 Mini Cooper Engine Cooling Problems

There is a problem with the thermostat gaskets. Often times they leak and allow cars to overheat. Check under your car and make sure that there is no coolant leaking. MINI has updated the gasket so if you get your car serviced at a mini dealer then your gasket will be updated. There is not a bulletin or recall for this replacement this would be at your cost.

Clear out the drain tube. May be able to do it with a coat hanger, or get someone to blow it out with some shop air.

At what kms do the timing and supercharger belts need replacing on 2005 mini cooper s

A 2005 mini cooper s does not have a timing belt. the engine is driven by chain and is probably good food for 200000 miles or untill they start rattling.
You will just need to inspect the super charger belt. If there are no cracks in it it will be fine.

if you have done all of this you may have a bad crank sensor or the timing off or the timing belt give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
