Re: 1993 chevy s10 started misfireing
Chances are He could not afford to REPAIR it anymore! There are Hundreds of pages on the Internet about Recalls, Complaints, Service Bulletins on the Chevy and GMC Blazers. Just got rid of my 2000 and had to take a BIG loss on it But, it was Worth it! Ok, The 4x4 Problem is the Transfer Case, All that you can do is get a New one, Rebuilt, Salvage. The Dying and Sputtering could Very well be the Distributor Cap, Plug Wires, Plugs, I would start there and see what you get.

code p0302 refers to cylinder 2 misfire detected===causes --engine mechanical fault--wiring---ignition/fuel system---injector--ECT/MAF sensor---ECM code p0457 refers to evaporative emission system--leak detected (fuel cap loose/off) ==causes --mechanical fault--hose connections---EVAP pressure sensor Replace faulty items. Use only genuine items as replacement as non-genuine are not always compatible with the OEM fitted CPU units. This results in the fault codes not cancelling out. If possible you may be able to get the CPU reset to work with the non genuine items you already have.
I am thinking it is your distributor. I had this happen just a few weeks ago. Check with local junkyards as I found a used(almost brand new) distrubutor for 100.00 opposed to almost 300.00 new. Same exact problem and also changed each thing you listed prior to finding out it was my distrubutor. My truck runs like it did before the issues started.
I have a 2001 Chevy s10 that I put an aftermarket air intake on. With high acceleration speeds, the car would lunge and stall. The engine would also quit. You need to make sure that you have no leaks in your intake manifold. If you have leaks in your manifold, your vehical will misfire. Check your air intake manifold by turning on your vehical on and running your hands up and down the air intake. If you feel air coming out, you have a leak. This needs to be corrected. I hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!
