Key will no longer open car door on 2003 honda civic

I am having issues with getting my key to push all the way into the lock on my 2003 Honda Civic, i have to play with it a while to get it to work. I know this is a known issue. I am thinking of getting a remote entry system but I am not sure if my care is capable of accepting/utilizing such a system. any on have any ideas?

The lock cylinder is faulty and will require replacement which is rather common on that model of vehicle.

SOURCE: automatic door lock no longer working

I just brought my car in because the AC was working, but not blowing cold. The emergency brake light won't go off. And the automatic door locks won't work (the doors lock manually but not auto). We just got the call that the entire fuse box under the steering wheel needs to be replaced. 270 for the part, 300 for the labor. !?!?!?!? It all just happened over the last weekend! They said not to drive it anywhere because you never know and all the electric could go!!! Not sure what caused it, but it sounds like I'm not the only one...

SOURCE: 2001 Honda Civic door lock

If there is nothing jammed in the barrel, you will need to pull apart the lining of the interior of the door, disconnect the power motor for that switch, then see if it locks by key, sounds like the motor is seized, of out of allignment, easily fixed with a second hand or reco motor, or witha simple adjustment. Good luck, hope it helps.

Try having a new key cut using the key code, at a dealer, not tracing the old key.

Usually when you change a Fob battery you have to re-sync it to the car. Some cars have you lock and unlock the drivers door with the key.
Should be in your owner's manual.

2004 Honda Civic power door losks don't work at all

please help me... i have a 96 honda civic. and my doors will not lock unless i push the locks down before i get out. its not the battery on my keys b/c when i push lock my headlights flash but my doors won't lock... and also my speedometer goes in and out. i got a speed sensor from a junk yard but it still didn't work. so i'm guessing its not that or if so that was just a bad sensor. and i don't want to go pay lots of money since my car is old and not sure what is wrong if it. so i don't want to buy parts and replace if its not the problem. please help me someone. i'm a girl and don't have a guy to help me. thanks!!!!

Unable to open drivers side door with my key on a 2003 honda civi

Remove the doro finisher of your door.
Wirth a light, you should see a loose link rod between the key-lock and the door-lock. Just click it back in place.
If it is a zamac lock link, that's broken, you should replace the system
