Question about 2008 Volvo S80

Problems with Volvo S80, 2008

We purchased a Volvo S80, it's only 7 months old and already has been to the garage at least 5 times. It seems to be the computer system that is causing the problems. Lights flashing, dashboard blacking out, doors locking, alarms ringing for no apparant reason, side fold mirrors do not fold, the list is endless. Each time we return to the garage, they say thay cannot find a problem. I'm really fed up with this and wish we had never changed our previous car of six years. Can anyone advise me how to deal with this problem. I do not find the Volvo team very helpful and they keep telling me I'm the only one with this problem. Can that be true???

If you take the car to the shop for the same problem (3 times in one year) I believe it is a lemon and they have to buy it back.
it may need to be more times but I think it is 3 in a year. there may be more info if you search for "lemon law" in your state. hope this helps although the issue remains,

Volvo V-70 drivetrain & electronics faults

I suspect you have some loose connections or shorts in the wiring harness. I've had similar strange things happen with an Olds Bravada. Various transmission shifting problems, faults, etc. that all seemed to come from the engine's computer system getting incorrect voltages and readings due to wiring faults/shorts.

best advice here is too take it to a volvo garage and let a dealer fitter have a look who will have all the experiance necessary ,never put a lot of faith into RAC fitters or the AA because most of them are all failed mechanics that do not like dirty hands

There is probably an updated software download, and a testdrive to set the shift parameters. You could try them first, but it sounds like the trans has gone south. Good luck...

Most times, warning lights, engine lights ect, can be reset by disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes or so, but you will also loose any saved radio stations, times, and anything else like that.

Hi, Since you have both codes Fuel system lean and MAF low I would bet money on that you have an intake air leak after the throttle. Check all hoses connected to the intake manifold, gaskets, injectors are put in place etc.

Last 14 months - 4 new batteries & new alternator fitted. Car still not starting and had to be returned to garage! Any ideas!

You need to have your electrical system checked for excessive draw. If the shop that worked on it has not done so, bring it to another shop...This is a routine procedure which definitely should have been done at least after the second battery! I can't offer a solution or "quick fix" because without doing that procedure I'd only be guessing!!!
