2001 Dodge Durango 4.7. The mechanic says that it's a "bent rocker arm and a broken valve". Should I just get another car due the problem I have?

Try a couple of different garges ,End get a quate from them, What it will cost to have it repaired. In a situation like yours i will go to 5 or more places to see what they tell me,

A broken valve can get expensive, may be better to get a used engine from repitable salvage yard, or look on internet. i dont know about a bent rocker arm. that sounds strange. did you pull the valve cover and see it yourself ?

That engine was used in so many different models, I would suggest you check a public library for a Chilton or perhaps even a factory manual of that era. I think there would be several possible vehicles (and manuals) that would contain the specs you need.
Most larger llibraries have them or can get them in through their system.

Second hand head from wreckers & new headgasket is probably cheapest way, or just pull yours off & replace bent valves & refit, shouldn't cost more than a few hundred if you can do it yourself. Would bbe worth the price of a new manual if you're unsure how to go about it.

sounds like you have a loose lifter. you have to adjust them by taking off the valve cover and start on one side loosen till you hear it ticking then tighten just enough till it stops one by one you have to have the moter running to do it this way its a messy deal but thats the way ive always did it.if it continues to tick it may have a collapsed lifter. flushing your moter probably wont work.

You need to check the cv joints in the front end or the u joints in the front drive shaft.If none of the above then the problem is internal in the front diff.

sounds like your exhaust valves aren't opening up which means either your cam is out of round, push rods are bent/flatten rocker arms broken, broken valve stem/seat, hopefully just the valve got stuck closed due to carbon build up

5.9 Lt 2001 dodge durango has 20 percent compression on cylinder 7, ran really luggish and engine shakes alot, was told could drive on 7 out of 8 cylinders after a couple weeks of driving it, i started it...

it sounds to me that #7 has a valve train problem, wiped cam to broken rocker arm,bent pushrod,broken spring,bent valve or burnt bad! Or it has broken ring on piston. shouldnt have kept driving,very bad idea. pull valve cover to check valve train. I would start there before going deeper into motor.

Installed new oil pump and now have broken rocker arms

THe rocker arms are broken because there was not enough downward movement in the valves to allow the cam to complete its turn. IT happens when the valve spring retainer either hits the top of the valve guide or the valve springs are fully compressed forming a solid block . If you have hydraulic valve adjusters I would be suspicious of a lack of movement (seized) in the ones that broke the rocker arms

No start have spark and fuel 2001 durango 5.9l

My friends 04 Durango did this. His would barely crank but wouldn't stay running. Turns out broken valve spring. It was on a 318. Need a mechanic to do compression test on each cylinder to pinpoint. If it's firing and getting gas it must be compression issue.

A rocker arm is the arm that sits on top of the valve stem and connects to the push rods 'the push rods sit on the cam so when engine is running, the push rods go up and down in a timed sequence and with the rocker arms, open and close the inlet and exhaust valves. the rocker arm is located inside the valve(rocker)cover .If the rocker arm gets loose or comes out.
Check the nuts on the shaft which holds the rocker arms.either the shaft or nuts are got loose.They need to be tightened.Don't make it too tight or too loose.  Too tight,and they don't flutter right. Too loose,and they allow the rocker arms to wiggle out of whack. Other possibility can be  something is broken, bent, collapsed, or out of adjustment.

I have a 2001 Durango that sounds like it is out of oil all of the time. Even after a oil change. Are the lifters adjustable in order to stop the noise

dodge rocker arms or usually on a rod that bolts across the head and sets presser all the same if you have lifter noise you could have worn liters or cam lobe ware weak oil pump bent push rods remove valve cover and investigate

Engine has no compression

when the timing belt broke it also bent the valves,hence the broken rocker arm. pull the head and see the valves are bent
