Fuel guage is dead
I just replaces my battery and my car still wont start. It starts to turn over but acts as if there is no gas in the car. Also, when i turn the battery on there is a noise coming from battery/fuse box area and it give me the no key signal. My key has a chip and is the key i've used forever. My jeep is a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I also put the battery in wrong the first time i put it in, I believe this is probably the problem. Sorry this is not a solution and a question but I need help FAST.
Thank You.
If the other light is ok and the fuel gauge is only dead, may be you have no more fuel, try to refill fuel, if the battery is also dead replace new battery.
SOURCE: jeep will crank but wont start also fuel guage not working
Will it try to start if you spray some carb cleaner in the throttle body? If so you need to check fuel pressure and if low, power to the fuel pump while cranking, the gauge not working could be a seperate issue. Could it be that the car is out of gas since the gauge doesn't work? Just asking. If so you may just need a sending unit. If you end up needing a fuel pump, you'll get a sender with it. I've never seen a sender and a pump go out at the exact same time, the use two different circuit's. The ECM really doesn't have any thing to do with the fuel gauge on this car.

do you have a factory installed security system if so take your door to passenger door and turn twice should reset it you may have to take the panel off and look for a plastic device at the end of the door key mechanism may have fallen off i had this problem too changed out a battery did not know about the security feature it was that simple no fuel pump problem or sensor issues just a bs security feature mine is a 1994 limited 5.2L

Sorry brother, it is in the gas tank with the pump. they used filters that are suppose to be good for the life of the vechicle. you can see the plug if you lift up your spare. hope you dont HAVE TO go in there.

Check the fuses for the overhead console, could be that if not then the console needs to be replaced.....
