It goes near to the red and boiling. I had the radiator rodded out since I posted the problem. I guess that would sove the mineral build up solveitnow. I have not tested it since then but will tommorow.

Have you had the radiator checked for mineral buildup? Is there anything restricting air flow? Does it do this with the AC turned off?

Hi ..... When you say overheating, does the gauge show going into the red and/or overboiling from the red/engine ?

Having the radiator rodded is a good move. Retest. If it has an electric radiator fan check temp sensors. If the fan has a clutch it may need to be replaced if its slipping with the engine hot. Check bellts. Its likely a fan air flow issue if the engine overheats when the care is not moving or is moving slowly. If the engine overheats only with AC on that narrows it down. Write back if that's the case. Lots of things can cause this. Antifreeze and a good radiator cap discourages boiling. Pressure in the radiator raises the boiling point but it can't build up pressure if the cap is bad. Antifreeze also raises the boiling point. If actual boiling happens in the engine then steam builds up in critical places and drives the collant out of the block making the engine even hotter than it already is. Replace the cap. Check the antifreeze.

JUST OVERHAULLED MY TOYOTA VISTA SV40 4SFE, STILL OVER HEATS AND NO POWER GOING UP HILL WHY?

One possibility is that the timing is a tooth or 2 out. check that the timing is lined up OK on the crank pulley and camshaft drive pulley. Instant overheating can also be caused by a head gasket leak, so try re-tensioning the head bolts if you replaced that.

l could suggest you to check your engine thermostat if is working. if it is found defective, replace. some say, yes, could be the head gasket. it causes also of overheating. but smoke you notice at the tail end, could be you have broken valve seal and eats up the oil. this another problem makes the engine's overheating. the 25 old old engine really need an overhaul.

Somehow the coolant is getting into the exhaust system. Either by a blown head gasket, a cracked head or possibly a cracked block. If it's an aluminum head, that's probably it.

Just had a new cylinder head fitted to my 1997 toyota land cruiser , now its over heating what could be the problem .

It sounds like the head gasket is leaking and needs to be replaced. Keep in mind that the antifreeze is corrosive to the bearing to the engine so try to replace the gasket and engine oil soon as possible. Keep an eye on the oil level and condition, check to make sure that there is no antifreeze mixing with the engine oil. If your lucky, it could just be a bad thermostat and less work to replace the thermostat. Good luck

White coloured engine oil, overheating

White oil means water or coolant is leaking in via Head Gasket Failure or a crack in the head. Along with repair - be sure to have each cylinder compression tested to see if there is a crack that has developed. Overheating

Is this the diesel model ? or petrol power? Never lug your diesel engine it will overheat even a new engine. Check your coolant level when engine is cooled down it may need burped. Why the head gasket change? did the head get checked for cracks and surface flatness, could be still leaking combustion pressure gases into the coolant have a test for this
