Hello, were you able to figure it out?

I have a similar problem and i need to replace my oil pan..looks like its not going to be easy..

I notice that the starter problably needs to be removed, the exhaust system and probably the passenger side 1/2 shaft ...

so i am thinking that i probably need to take it to a shop instead

2001 ford windstar oil leak from oil plug

There could be several causes for your leak:
  • Oil plug is loose
  • Oil plug is stripped and can't be tightened
There are some products that will substitute for a bad oil plug. Most repair shops will try to sell you a new oil pan. Sometimes a small gasket around the oil plug will stop the leak as well.

Ford windstar 2001

I believe you want to know engine oil capacity? It is 5 and 3/4 quarts, which includes the oil filter. The gas tank capacity is 25.6 gallons.

My 2001 ford windstar's transmition is leaking.

This could be caused by multiple components failing. what i have seen most often on the windstar is the transmission pan gasket leaking, which is maybe a twenty dollar gasket between the pan and transmission, very simple to do, just requires removing between 10 and 20 bolts and replacing the gasket, then refilling the trans. i have also seen lines leaking going to the transmission cooler, which are more expensive and much more involved than the pan.
