You can go to the public library and see if they have a manual for your year and model or something close. Mitchell's publications are an excellent service trade manual, but not all libraries have them. Those manuals will have an emissions routing diagram covering the tank to the engine.

Alternately If you remove the ring that retains the sending unit, you can lift it slightly to see which of the two larger diameter barbs goes to the fuel rail or the TBI, and the other which is simply the return line from the fuel rail or TBI. You will also see which is the larger hose to go forward to the carbon canister for tank vent. the smaller one would be shown on the engine decal as going to the tank, usually off a seond tap on the carbon canister.

If emissions are going to be bypassed- which I cannot reccommend, the three important lines out of the tank are the fuel out from the fuel pump, the return off the rail or TBI and the tank vent itself.

The lines themselves are run along the stub frame inboard from the road and secured at every transition point or every 12 inches. The old holes should be visible for the mounting stub of the retianers.

Car was running fine until I stopped at a stop light yesterday. Since then, doesn't want to run when in gear, only in park.

sounds like a furl filter problem. Check online for the make /model in auto repair manuals to find the type and location of the fuel filter. Some are in the tank---HARD TO FIX yourself.- some are inline (in the fuel line) they are easy to replace yourself.

Gasoline smell in car

You may have leakings fuel line on top of gas tank when filling up or line is leaking where they connect to fuel filter under body maybe behind rear wheel wells , or may have a leaking furl injector or even your carbon gas canister filtr need chaging or ovver filling can send fuel up to that canister which recirculates gas fumes back to fuel system check your gas cap maybe leaking or when gas attended over filling it runs down into drain tube

Need to replace both gas lines

Hi, this is a tough situation, as your brake lines run near the fuel liines, and you do not want to disturb them. The fuel lines are probably discontinued by the dealer. This is ok, because you can use brake lines. This is a low pressure fuel injection (14 psi), so you can safely repair this. The lines use o-rings, and are specially flared. Most auto parts stores have replacement repair lines, with the correct flared ends that you need. In conjunction with brake lines of the same size, and the correct unions, these lines can be repaired rather easily. If it is the line going to the pump above the tank, you may want to consider removing th pick up box, rather than taking the tank out, (risking breaking other lines). As this is a slightly tougher procedure than normal, do this only if you are comfortable with your mechanical ability. Consult your parts store first, to see what is available. Best of luck...Coop

Remove gas tank

HI, you will need to remove as much fuel as possible, then raise the van up and support it so there is enough room under the van to drop the tank out.
1) remove the fuel line from the fuel filter and the return line .
2) you will see a black EVAP canister by the fuel filter you will need to disconnect the lines from it. The remove the lines from the fuel tank that run from the canister.
3) Loosen the clamps on the fuel filler neck and pry the neck away from the tank. there will be a small vet line running to the filler neck this also needs to be removed.
4) you will need to support the tank and remove the 3 bolts holding the straps. then lower the tank down.

I have a 1985 Pace Arrow motorhome which I think needs a fuel filter replaced. (Stalls, then will restart and run awhile, stall again) Where is the in-line filter located? Looks like there's a little...

Go under the van, the fuel filter will be in the fuel supply line, the fuel supply line is a 3/8" steel line. I will say that this symptom is not really a fuel filter symptom

Need to know where the fuel filter is so i can change the **************

Hello. The fuel filter is under the car in the fuel line. It takes special tools to change it and you can borrow those tools at most auto parts stores as long as you buy the new furl filter from them.

The (nots) you referred to, I assume you mean the fuel inlet and return lines on the pump itself. The tank should have a couple of straps on the bottom of the tank that most likely are secured with a couple of bolts and then you have your Fill tube that runs from the outside of the car where you pump gas into the tank that will need to be disconnected. The power connections to the pump should also be disconnected. Be careful :D

Fuel filters is where

It's located about the center of the van and about 2 feet in front of the tank, It has three lines coming out of it. Two going to the rear to the tank and one to the front. Be sure to tell the parts man what body style the van is when you ask for one because the long van ( Grand) uses longer lines. The round thing at the top of the tank itself is NOT a filter, but a vapor separator. There's nothing inside it. You may have to loosen the tank straps some to drop the tank a little to disconnect the lines on top of the tank. Be careful, the lines will have pressure. I always pull the relay in the fuse box under the hood that's marked 'fuel pump' while the van is running and let it run out of gas before changing the filter. Even then you will get some pressure
