SOURCE: where to plug in dioagnostic reader 98 chevy prizm

Your spark plugs are damaged

Is that not a no brainer?

Timing belt & you may have major damage
to valves,pistons etc

Need to get a camera inside cylinder to inspect
& then do a cylinder leak down test

Where is the obd port

If your car is equipped with obd, look under the dashboard for a plug receiver, usually on the driver side.

Where is the diagnostic port located on a 2000 fiat marea

on a 99 2.0 model you will have 2 diagnostic ports. both of them will be the fiat 3 pin type.

to connect the 3 pin fiat connector to a 16 pin obd2 connector you need 4 lengths of wire. use 3 lengths of wire to connect the 3 pin connector to the obd connector. also use 1 length of wire for power to the obd connector.

on the 16 pin obd2 connector use the following pins
4- chassis ground (connect to ground on 3 pin connector, or any good chassis earth)
5- signal ground (connect to black wire pin on 3 pin connector)
7- k line (connect to white wire pin on 3 pin connector)
16- 12vDC (connect to battery positive terminal)

On the dashboard of my 2000 Buick BeSabre, it say: It needs service. What does that mean?

Service generally refers to a need for maintenance, It could be almost anything. To find out for yourself, get a OBD-II code reader and plug it into the diagnostic port usually found under the dash close to the steering column. Advance, Auto Zone, even Harbor Freight Tools sells them for about $50 and they let you reset the check engine light. Worth their weight in gold if you ask me, you will use it more than once, trust me.

Where is the engine diagnostic port fuse on a 2002 dodge intrepid?

open port to the left of the fuse panel. This will be a small rectangular port that is large enough to accommodate the onboard diagnostic scan (OBD) tool plug.

Where is the obd port on my 1995 Isuzu Rodeo?

d2610cc.jpg
Here is a photo of the obd connector on a 1993 Isuzu Trooper.

The connector is on the transmission hump about 6 inches from the accelerator pedal. It is inside a black hood. Right next to the white OBD connector is an identical green connector that I have not tested.

The OBD port is a white 3 hole plug. Right next to it in the photo is a green 3 hole plug that I believe is for automatic transmission diagnostics. The plug is different from other plugs under the dash as it will not accept a .25" tab connector.

The picture shows a 20 ohm resistor being used to short pin 1 and 3 of the white plug. The resistor is to prevent a melted wire in case the plug shorted is the wrong plug.

To read the error codes from the engine computer, the mechanic is supposed to short pin 1 and pin 3 of the OBD port plug. Then the mechanic turns on the ignition switch and counts flashes of the "check engine" light to determine the error values being reported.
