If you can't figure it out from the owners manual just call the dealership. Unfortunately, the aftermarket maintenance manuals are not for sale yet.

My son's 1997 Honda Accord has an aftermarket stereo that works but his cigarette lighter doesn't. Could it be a fuse?

The thing is, whoever hooked up the stereo would know for sure where the connected into in order to get power to the stereo. If they went off somewhere ealse other than what the factory made to be the power for the stereo it would make sense. In the accord for your year the power to the stereo and the cigarette lighter is the same fuse if it was hooked to the same wiring that came with the vehicle. They may have by accident disconnected the lighter and it's just not hooked up at all. You can check the fuse for the cigarette lighter if you would like. that fuse is in the fuse panel located in the engine compartment and will be in the number 18 position and sould be a 15 amp fuse ( see diagram of the layout of fuses below). If that fuse is bad and corrects the problem then they hooked up to another power source when they hooked up the stereo. I hope this helps you and good luck.

My cigarette lighter does not work when I attempt to charge my cell phone? Is it a fuse?

A blown fuse is by far the most common cause for your problem. Locate the fuse block and look for a fuse labeled "cig lit" or something similar. It is most likely a 10amp fuse. Remove the fuse and check the element. If it is broken replace it with a fuse of the same amperage.

Fuse #9 in the passenger interior fuse panel keeps blowing when the key is turned on.

Number 9, passenger's side, is your ACC Socket (previously known as your cigarette lighter socket). If you've been using it, it may have gotten grounded in some fashion. I would take a careful look at the contacts.

on your owners manual for fuses/relays. look for the location of the fuse box, look for the specific fuse for radio/stereo and/or cigarette lighter. When you find the burnt fuse, if you go to buy a replacement you might wan't to consider a new style. they sell fuses that light up when the fuse burns out. It is about .10cents more and makes finding the fuse easier if it happens again.

Radio and cigarette lighter

remove the fuse and test it for continuity.... or just replace the fuse anyways as they always seem to put the lighter and radio on the same fuse.
