Isitgetting gas to the fuel rail. check to see if you got pressure in the fuel rail. if there is no pressure, then replace the fuel pressure regulator. also chech the fuel pump relay. if it is not those then we going back to find the issue

SOURCE: 1995 Dodge Dakota Pick up

go to Didgeforums.com.

I had a similiar problem, found the solution there. It was the wiring harnes on the drivers side under the hood, just above the wheel well. there are a cluster of wires in a bundle. I unpacked the bundle carefuly and sure enough the were two or three wires all coroded, had wite powder from corosion. repaired the connections and bingo. I posted details at dodgeforums.com. browse around there. I posted pictures as well. this is a common problem.

Have you checked base fuel pressure with a gauge ?
Code 42 is a problem with the fuel pump relay or ASD relay circuit.

You say you had something done or checked

We have over 300 new people a day, come to this
site alone, that have not found a repair shop or dealer
that can resolve anything, at all

Why is that,I ask?

I have 1992 dakota factory manuals from mine old one

If you get specific about serious wire chasing I will
look things up for you.

distributor or fuel pump/filter. You can spray WD40(as this will not knock the engine, like the starting fluid does) into the intake and if it acts like it wants to start then it is the fuel system if not the ignition system ( distributor, sensor, plugs/wires ) Hope this helped Tim

Forget the codes,it's a 1992 obd1,not much to look at,I own one since new,18 years. Do you hear the fuel pump when turning the key on and off? If not check out the relay, put a pressure gauge on the fuel rail if you hear the pump and pull the hose of the regulator for pump pressure. Also check the pump wire harness for dirt, corrosion on top off fuel tank, and good luck gettin to that. Also check alt output,it has to drive that pump

i can tell you its not the fuel pump.if you smell fuel then the pump is working right, you may have a weak crankshaft sensor though which would keep it from starting and running. but its definately not the fuel pump maybe you have water in your gas
