SOURCE: dashboard brake light stays on, 1990 Suburban

Most likely. Usually what happens to mine, is the wires to the sensors get broken from stones hitting them. i splice them back together and they are good for a while. Or the sensors get dirty.

SOURCE: My daughters 2006 Silverado appears to have a BCM

It does sound viableas the bcm controls these functions. is there any aftermarket items that have been added and wired in? if there is and wired into wrong circuits the bcm will not go to "sleep" meaning it does not shutdown. power sources have to come off of specific circuits not related to bcm. this could be the issue. other than that bcm is most likely culprit

SOURCE: my rear brake lights won't

Hi the most likely thing which is causing your problem is the brake light switch, which will be situated on the footbrake pedal assembly bracket. Usually rotate the switch ( after pulling off wiring
connector ) a quarter of a turn to unlock it from bracket.
I hope i have been of help to you

SOURCE: Replaced stock bcm with used.

A used body control can be used in a vehicle other than the vehicle it was installed in. the body control module when first installed is programmed with the vehicle vin number. the vin number can not be changed was it was written to the BCM. the oprions can be always change in the BCM but not the VIN number. basically the used bcm you have installed has the vin number from the vehicle was installed in, now the vin number in the used BCM doesnt match all the other control modules

SOURCE: brake lights won't work.... replaced fuse

need to check the multi-function switch. the brake light signal goes through the turn signal switch on the steering column. the brake lights come on if the turn signal is not being operated. the circuit for the brake light can loose contact in the switch.

Check the brake control switch situated just above the break pedal arm under the dashboard. Could be a wire loose or unplugged or the switch itself could be faulty

A key symbol on dashboard and lights are not working

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS, TPMS, MIL, CEL and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

Legend of Abbreviations. ABS Anti-lock brake system. TCS Traction control system, TCM Transmission control module, SRS Supplemental restraint system, BCM Body control module. TPMS Tire Pressure Monitor System, MIL Malfunction Indicator Lamp, CEL Check Engine Light.

You have a brake light switch attached to your brake pedal, may be loose or bad.Read what it says,if bad light will stay on,easy to replace, just disconnect electrical connector, then unscrew nut, then remove, the end piece clicks on and off,I have a 85 Nissan 720 truck, have replaced mine before years ago. Ford e250 brake lights stay on

If the lights only stay on when key is in ignition, your central brake lights (or one of the lights) are out. The other lights stay on as a warning that the centrals(or other brake light/s) are needing replaced.

Brake stop light stays on had it in da shop but did not fix da problem

{: ) Did somebody worked on the BCM or your brake pedal? The wirings and connectors could have been knocked off. For the moment. let's just rule out the wiring issue first.
Under normal operations, the stop lamps get its power from the BCM (body control module). The BCM monitors the signals coming from the brake pedal sensor whenever you step on the brakes or not.
The component fix is to replace the brake pedal position sensor. I just hope your problem doesn't come to the point of replacing the BCM too (rarely happens).
But before proceeding with the replacement options, try to bring it to a shop with a GM scan tool and ask them to perform the brake pedal position sensor calibration. This is the quick fix without replacing any component. I hope you get lucky.
