That is an idle-air control motor/valve. It does indeed look like one that would come out of a Chevy 350 engine, which is an option for a 99 Tahoe. If you can see OE part numbers on it, you can try crossing it over at BWD. 31023 should be what it crosses to if it is the one out of your Tahoe.

The timing is computer controlled but the camshaft phase can be checked with a scanner called camshaft sensor offset.

99 tahoe back fires only when starting it does not pass mog

I STARTED EXPLAINING THE WHOLE THING TO YOU AND THIS APP KICKED ME OUT. ILL TRY IT AGAIN. THE SPIDER (INJECTOR ASSEMBLY) HAD LOTS OF ISSUES. IM ASSUMING THIS TRUCK HAS 4.3 OR A 5.7 IN IT. THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR IS PART OF THE ASSEMBLY. IT LEAKS FUEL INTO THE LOWER INTAKE. THERES LOTS OF SENSORS BUT KNOWING THE INSPECTION STUFF THEY MAKE YOU PASS IM ASSUMING O2 PROBS. THE REGULATOR WILL LEAK RUNNING OR NOT. THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR STARTING ISSUE AND A O2 PROBLEM. REPLACE THE INJECTOR ASSEMBLY REGULATOR AND ALL. HOPE THIS HELPS

My 1996 chevy tahoe has rougha rough idle and low r.p.m's in drive what can i do to solve this problem

I would do a full tune up first. Plugs, wires, rotor, cap and coil. If your idle is still rough consider MAP sensor, idle position sensor, or any other emissions sensors maybe suspect. They usually set codes that would trigger your "check engine" light. On the other hand check belts and tension pully if you have one. Lastley, change the fuel filter put in some injector cleaner. A good shop can test the fuel pressure from the fuel pump. I hope this can help.

I have a 99 tahoe it dies when you stop?

Do you have any check engine lights on? If so, then you have a bad sensor. If you do not have a light on, then you probably have a cracked, leaky, or plugged vacuum line.

99 tahoe hard time starting when cold

Possibly the Crankshaft Position Sensor is going bad, or fuel pump.
