Question about 1995 Mazda Protege

1 Answer

1994 mazda protege overheating fast

I have a 94 protege. Since yesterday when i start the car it takes like 5 min to overheat. I can drive it, and i dont see any smoke, i can smell faulty gasses. All fluids were topped up. What could be the problem or easy fix. And also, if i drive it when its at Hot level, it loses power very soon and shuts off. and if i wait an hour and start it up again, it goes right to HOT.

Very well could be the ONLY Problem. Make sure you Check the Coolant and Make sure that you have Enough Anti-Freeze also! Let me know what you get! I am here During the Day also a Lot of the Time.

2003 Protege 5 overheating on long runs (> 20 min). Overheated today while driving at interstate speeds for > 15 min. Lost the coolant. Refilled with coolant. Return drive maintained normal engine...

Sounds like you have coolant leak if you are loosing coolant or a bad thermostat. I would replace the thermostat, they run about $10. The other fan is an aux fan and will only run when the a/c unit is on.

Try changing the fuel filter. Many times fuel problems can be mistaken for transmission problems because the motor is starving for gas.
