Question about Cars & Trucks
I ran into this same problem with a friends GMC. truck and what I found was that there was a small short in the wiring! so I would check the wiring from the brake pedal switch with a test light and if it lights up continue down the harness with tester till it doesn't light up and that tells you thats where the short in the wiring is, then repair and you should be good

did u check that they not burn?if not you should Check the wires going into the steering column if you don't have separate turn signal lights and brake lights because if they use the same bulb then the turn signal may be bad. If I remember correctly that particular car doesn't work this way, but I include it just in case.

it seems you have a short in either one of the lights or interlock. all are connected to the same fuse. trace the wiring from the fuse box back to the component. Using a test light test in between the wires. check for any obvious breaks in the wiring.

This may sound too simple, but first verify that you are getting voltage to the light socket. Use meter on d.c. If you are getting voltage, and your bulb is good, it could be a bad ground. Don't overlook the brake light system goes through the directional signal in the steering column.

SOURCE: Brake lights quit working.
if all fuses and bulbs are ok get to the brake switch and see ifits stiff or stuck, if it just has two wires on it you could join themtogether to see if the brake lights come on though obviuosly dont leave them joined.Good luck davelee
