If it is a 94 model or older, you can do it with a paper clip,or wire, but 95 and up you need a obd2 code reader.

SOURCE: 2007 Tahoe has check engine

there are several reasons why the remote start won't work, and one of them is the presence of a check engine light. Normally a check engine light comes on when a trouble code is present and recorded by the engine control module. Resetting or erasing the codes can only bring temporary relief, like what u said the remote start worked again. But the trouble will still come back until the real cause is being addressed. You got code on the cam sensor, but car runs fine. Its because the engine computer senses inconsistencies while trying to improve the Emissions system of your vehicle. That we cannot see or hear. Most probably your cam sensor or the wirings are getting intermittent. Better have it visually inspected and replaced if necessary.

Codes P0191,P069E

P0191 is injector pressure sensor system performance. Nothing on the other code with the letter mixed in. I would erase it and see if it comes back.

My check engine soon light came on for two days and it went away yesterday.

If no driveabilty problems were noted it most likely was for an emmission problem. Every time you start the vehicle the computer does a self check on its operating parameters and does checks while the vehicle is in operation. If the checks pass the light will turn out until the computer finds a fault with something again.I would have the codes scanned if the light comes back on to determine the system at fault

What is wrong with my 2003 dodge Durango?

When you first get a check light on, you stop using it
& have it diagnosed for the faults, that caused the light
to come on

Now you may have ruined, what was a good vehicle, had you
cared to actually find & repair ALL problems, several times
a year

Tow to shop

Check engine light came on yesterday. Car seemed to be running fine. Got home parked it and now it won't start. It is turning over, but not starting.

The check engine light can come on for literally HUNDREDS of reasons. The reason that your check engine light came on may or may not be related to your car not starting. It could be just coincidence or it could also be that the light was trying to warn you about a system failure that is now keeping you from starting your car.
The only thing that is fairly certain is that the computer will have set a fault code in memory to tell you why it turned the light on. Whatever you do, don't keep trying to start it . Quit until you can get the computer system scanned.
Many times I have had cars towed in because of similar problems. The problem was made worse because the customer kept trying to start the engine until the battery went completely dead. The problem with this is that you can lose the codes that will tell you what is going on. The computer literally "loses its mind" when the battery is run too low. With no codes to narrow things down, the problem has to be manually diagnosed. EVERYTHING will have to be checked to eliminate possibilities. This can take a LOT of time and can be VERY expensive.

I have a 2008 sububrban that will not start and two codes p023f and p069e. The truck has the 6.0l engine, where do I start

It's either the fuel pump or the fuel pressure control module.
I have the same condition on an 08 suburban 1500.
I am going to replace both. The fuel pressure control module needs to be reprogrammed at the dealer after install from what I have read.
I'll let you know the outcome.

My check engine light is blinking, the car is shaking and driving very sluggish. the car was running fine yesterday and today the problem started.

Stop at one of the local Auto Parts stores and and ask them to use their code reader to identify the stored code in the computer. Whenever your check engine light comes on it stores a fault code as to why. That will tell you. It could be anything from O2 Sensor to just needing New plugs and wires. You won't know until you know what the code is and look up the code.

Hard starting with check engine light and hold light on

If your check engine light is on, take the car to your local auto parts superstore and have them scan for the fault codes. Usually it is free. The fault code will tell you where to start to solve the problem. Hope this helps.

Check engine light

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve any fault codes stored in the car's computer. Most parts stores will perform the scan at no charge. The light comes on when the computer has detected a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will help identify any problems/potential problems that the computer has identified. Hope this helped and best wishes.
