Well, if it isnt broke, well you know the rest. As a kid in the shop we were directed to add dextron 3 to the fuel to decarbonize an engine. I have practiced this and my ford 5.8 that just hit 280,000 .. Cant say that was it, but point being it didnt hurt it. They actually make a old school fuel additive called Marvel Mystery Oil, It is Dextron 3 mostly. The oil consumption test you can do, Do a oil change , after 1000 mi. drain it and see that you have what you put in. That is what they are charging you too do. Is it worth it? umm, no
