2002 gmc sierra won't start, security light came on

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterperates this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. Remember too, the TDM controls the security light. Sometimes you can have ALL the symptoms and no lights.

MY SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING AND NOW IT WON'T START LIGHTS RADIO ALL COME OP JUST WON'T START

The security light is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM. (Theft Deterrent Module) The TDM is what tells your computer that the correct key is being used and that it is "OK" to allow the vehicle to start and run. These 3 parts must be in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending important signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, (normally due to a failing/broken part) the car goes into antitheft mode. The car misinterperates this and thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is NOT getting that signal from YOUR specific key. There is where the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. So basically, if that light is on, your system has some sort of failing part. This can start as an intermittent "no start", to your vehicle not running for days at a time, to the vehicle NEVER starting again. The problem is electrical and computer based, so don't count on an easy reset button, or the problem fixing itself. The hard part is isolating which part is the problem. You can spend a thousand dollars through a mechanic very easily. I have had great luck with bypassing the entire system. This way the problem will never return. It actually CAN'T ever return because it is eliminated. This can also be done yourself at a much cheaper cost. Read through this link very carefully. You'll find alot of information and pictures, along with ways to help you fix this.

Hello I have a 1994 buick park avenue. My security light is flashing and my car will not start. I have been back and forth to the dealership to get this alarm system disabled but I've been told that...

There are a few ways that i know of to BYPASS this system. This problem has been occurring on GM vehicles since 1982. They are fully aware of the problem and hundreds of vehicles are effected by this same curse. Since your security light is flashing, this tends to lead toward either a worn out key or a bad ignition. This system is all about READING the ohms of the chip in your key. The ignition reads this code, sends it to the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM), and then the TDM sends a signal that allows the starter to start. It is BREAKS in this communication that triggers the security light and the "no start" situation. If the security light were to be solid instaed of flashing. then this would indicate a failure in the TDM. Go this link. It explains the situation and offers 2 ways to bypass this system. The first one is considered a key/ignition bypass. This should work for you though it would still leave the TDM active. The second one is a full bypass which eliminates the entire system 100%.

I have a 94 buick regal that won't start. I have determined that the TDM is not turning on the Starter relay or the pcm injector circuit. I am not sure if it is the TDM of if it is not getting the...

Check to see if the security light is on when you turn your key forward. If its solid, its the TDM. Flashing is the key or ignition. Here is a link may help you. If its flashing, do a "temporary fix" and save some money. You'll see it on this link. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

This is a communication problem between your key, ignition/lock cylinder, and the truck's TDM. (theft deterrent module) the problem is in diagnosing the problem part. I've had great luck with just bypassing the entire anti theft system. Saves troubleshooting out parts, time, money, headache, and the possibility of this happening again. Check out this site for info and "do it yourself" solutions. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

1997 oldsmobile 88 won't start the security light

Im guessing you tried to bypass the key in the ignition/steering column. This is ok unless the actual problem was in the TDM (theft deterrent module) In this case, the 2 wire bypass does nothing. There is another way to bypass this. Check out this link for tons of info and some DO IT YOURSELF options. Ive done several key bypasses and tons of full bypasses. They both work well, it just depends on what part is failing. I think you need the full bypass to eliminate that TDM.
