Autodata Supply data like this on CD and in print, your local Garage may have access and be able to help for a fee. This kind of info may have to be paid for. Maybe there is a Haynes manual that covers it?

SOURCE: Does the nissan quest 1999 timing belt needs to be

The Quest has a non interference engine meaning that should the belt break the engine would just die without breaking anything. Nissan recommends 105K for changing but that depends on the way the vehicle was driven (driving habits), road conditions etc. If driving on roads for e.g. that are hilly, it labors the engine more thus shortens the lifespan of the belt according to mfg.

Remove Belt.Turn crankshaft pulley mark to line up with mark on housing TDC. Turn camshaft gear mark to line up with mark on head or block housing. More than one mark on cam gear ? If so turn camshaft till number four cylinder inlet and exhaust valves are just rocking this is the mark to use. ( same can be used on a six cylinder engine rocking number six valves ) fit new parts, tension belt, (TIP) now turn engine twice by hand , recheck that timing marks line up . saves a lot of time if you find they don't later.

Timing marks are not lining up when turning over the eng

Timing belt or chain?
If you have chain align the dark mark of the chain to gear marks and release the tentioner . after you turn one time the mark wont match to the chain for long time.
if you have belt. the marks are on the dots on the head and block and will match every second turn on crankshaft
after you install belt/chain turn with hand ,don't start till you're sure the piston don't touch the valve .
with chain you can mark a dot on the block and head with marker to see if will come back to the same spot on same time crank and cam but is not accurate .
good luck

Where are the timming mark for 1993 nissan quest

ignition timing is normaly on the harmonic balencer (the pully on the crank that drives fan belt).if not it will be on the fly wheel and there will be a small inspection plate and pointer.if your looking for vaulve timing / cam timing remove timing cover on the front of engine block (dont mess with this unless you know what your doing)..if your engine is belt or chain driven over head cam never ever turn engine backwards or the timing belt/chain can slip/jump and then the vaulves can hit the pistons upon starting ruening the engine

1997 nissan quest camshaft sensor where is it & how to replace it

The camshaft sensor is located inside the distributor and is part of it, in order to replace it you must replace the distributor,to replace remove the dist cap. mark the location of the rotor,by marking where its pointing to, then mark the dist housing, so now theres a mark on the rotor and housing to show where rotor points, next mark the location of dist going into housing, mark the shaft and the block, because it spins in block this way you can line back up.next remove hold down bolt and pull out, mark the new dist in exacat same spots as the old so you can install back the same, you may have to put it in and pull it out until your marks are lined up,this way the timing will be dead on, when done you can check timing. good luck

1997 pathfinder i need a water pump do i need to

yes you will have to remove the timing belt and crank pully. It is not as bad as it looks. You might as well, while you are in there, change the thermostat and new Timing belt and tensioner pully.
The trick I use, (and I have done hundreds of Timing belts) I use a good paint pen to mark the timing belt and gears. make sure to mark it so you know what marks are for what cam and crank. and which direction it goes. then on the new belt crefully transfer the marks. then it goes really smooth and there is no guessing hoping it is properly lined up on the factory marks. and you dont have to line every thing up before you take off the belt either. just mark it and remove it where the motor stopped..If you do it this way, you dont have to worry about trying to line up the cams and crank to there respective marks, just the ones you made, then there is no mistake.

How do i mark my timing belt and take it off while doing a head gasket job on a 91 honda accord lx

put it at top dead center, also when you remove the cover rotate until mark on crank gear lines up with mark on oil pump housing ,it right behind the gear, also you will see notches on the cam gears and the rear cover those should also line up when crank gear is aligned, sometime marks on cams are 180 degrees off which just means crank has to be turn one more time, then double mark gears that all, good luck.

Timming Belt

be very carefull if you are doing this yourself,it is critical to get the timing marks just right or you could do some serious damage to the engine. You must turn the engine by hand with a socket or spanner on the bottom pulley until the mark on it is lined up with the marker on the casing that surrounds it.Once this is done do the same with the top pulley, the mark on this may just be a small indentation that lines up with an arrow, once this is done you can then put on the belt and make sure it is tensioned properly.Once again, these settings are critical and if you are unsure DONT attempt it.

Rigoe the points for the timing belt are usually located on the sprokets in conection with marks or dots on the engine block some where around the sprockets that hold the timing belt. Remenber to bring the piston number one to TDC (top dead center), this means you have to locate the piston number one, take the spark plug out and turn the cranshaft (the one with the pulley) by hand until the piston is all the way up. On the distributor the rotor should point to the spark-plug wire number one (you can make a mark outside of the distributor cap where the number one spark-plug wire is pointing so when you take the cap off you can see if the rotor is pointing the same direction). With the timing belt cover off you are going to be able to aling all this points at the exact locacation all together. So we have: Piston number one at TDC, The rotor(enside the distributor cap) pointing to the number one spark-plug wire, and the mark of the sprockets pointing the marks of the engine block( litle dot or dash). If you get all this right you are have done a good job and ready to make a trip you can get all this just by turning the cranshaft by hand with a rachet and a big socket. God bless you.
