Hi,
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

Vt commodore cranks but wont fire.

Don't know if you have gotten it repaired by now, but if not my humble opinion is to suck it up and have it towed to the dealer. It will be expensive but in the long run you will probably save money and get it fixed. Had a similar experience and spent a small fortune on reputable private garages who could not fix it.

Replacing crankshaft pulley on 2001 Ford Taurus SES, V6

Hello,
Now did the crankshaft break OR the bolt(s) that hold the pulley on broke?
If crankshaft is broke, you are better off finding a replacement engine for what it will cost to repair UNLESS it an expensive special built engine you might want it repaired.
If it is the bolt or bolts your best bet would be an - easyout- set, it looks like a drillbit set kind of. PB blaster and some heat (propane torch) will help. DONT get too hot because you will destroy front engine seal(s) from heat. It will be a tight fit job depending on if it is a sideways engine of standard with radiator in front that you can remove for more working room. Any issues I'll help u out. Done plenty. Paul

About how much would it cost to get a starter replaced for a 1999 buick lesaber

Hi,

The cost of a starter (re-manufactured) is approximately $110. Perhaps cheaper on eBay but returns are a hassle. Your local mechanic is probably billing at $50 per hour. Your labor cost should be no more than $75 and that's high.

Check out this video if you want to do-it-yourself.

All the best

I THINK MY TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT HOW WOULD I DO IT MYSELF REPAIR, OR GET INSTRUCTIONS?

The best source that I have found on the internet is Alldata.com it is a pay site cost about $20 but you get to use the info for a year and you can print it out for future use once you join it with one vehicle any additional vehicles will only cost $15. It has been a staple it my garage for at least 5 years now, Ihope this helps you, good luck !! PS the instructions are step by step and very easy to follow

I have a stripped spark plug thread on my 1998 BMW

Your most cost effective solution is a Helicoil, A Timesert is about the same maybe a few dollars more but if will be a better fix than the Helicoil. The next two options are the used head or if it is being removed a machine shop could build up and redrill and thread the hole (like new). Myself I would probably be satisfied with a good installation of the time sert but it might be a time well spent to see how much another head or the machine shop repair is going to cost you.

Head lighs go out on 98 cutlass oldsmobile when put on high beam.

You probably have a defective high/low beam switch. You'll have to have the lever assembly replaced. This is a common problem on Olds and Buick cars of that year. The switch is about $75 on the internet. I wouldn't try replacing it myself as you might deploy the air bag... Call around to a REPUTABLE auto repair shop. They probably have replaced a few and should give you an idea of the total cost. Should be about $75- $100 for labor. Good Luck ! ! ! !

Low coolant light

When that happens it is usually because the coolant level membrane sensor is faulty.

Repair is not expensive, but must be done by a qualified mechanic.
