    Hi there.... what symptoms are you having with your Dakota? do you have to jump the battery when you start it or can you start the vehicle without a jump?

Quick test... start the vehicle and unhook the battery. if it quits... alternator... if it keeps running battery...

P1682 Chevrolet - Ignition 1 Switch Circuit 2

Possible causes
- Faulty ignition switch
- Ignition Switch harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Switch circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

There are 2 ignition 1 voltage circuits supplied to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The first ignition circuit is provided by the powertrain relay, through a fuse. This ignition 1 voltage circuit supplies power to all the internal ECM circuits associated with the throttle actuator control (TAC) operation. The second ignition 1 voltage circuit is supplied by the run/crank relay through a fuse, and is used to power the remaining internal ECM circuits. Updated attempts


We had a dodge dakota with the same symptoms and they found a corroded pin on the main connector to the ecm . I think P1682 is low voltage from the charging system. Hope this might help.

Code p1682-A/T FI signal A high output.
It's a C code fault.
I recommend you clear it.

Error codes


P0523 means the Oil pressure voltage to high. Your Oil pressure sensor may need to be replaced. P1682 means your charging system is to low. Your voltage regulator may be going bad or the whole alternator. p1693 means a Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has been detected in the ECM or PCM which is related to the above DTC P0XXX codes.
