Like i want the cops to go away when im in el quebrados while dating barbra.

Need to replace coil pack on number 5 cylinder where is it located please


DTC errors? P0305> right. and can be spark , bad combustion it is. or bad injection (or OMG, bad compression #5) not just Spark
Its a COP, not a Pack unless in Australia. (a pack has 2 or more coils in one, but im guessing USA car. (big world it is)

thats easy, well finding it is , most COP will be stuck there.
put it back with silicon grease this time and it will not stick later.
btw the boots can be replace by sell if bad ( carbon found)
and saves a fortune , not needing a new cop
here is the page showing how. and the parts discounted.

doing a tune ups , does this same act. removing all COPS.
to change spark plugs. (ever consider that spark plug is just bad?)

the answer lies in the fact that the #1 cylinder is the most front cylinder, see that?
1,3,5 is left side, left means drivers seated.
so #5 is left rear. cylinder

if the new cop dont fix it; come back and we can find true cause

I just installed a 1998 Suzuki Sidekick sport 18 liter engine, wiring and ECU into a 89 Suzuki Samurai. I got the two wires on the CMP crossed, the yellow with a blue stripe and the yellow with a green...


the car in USA has an OBD2 scan port DLC, that missing too?
connect the scan tool
key on, crank for 5seconds, and bingo, all J18s PCMs report
the cause of no starts, DTC errors, why be blind to that? look first.

the PCM cuts fuel if spark feed back fails.
so my guess, is the 1 or more COP ignitors are failing
are all 4 COPS dead. (coil over plug are they 1998 cops)
do not mix years they are different big time,

wiring errors can in fact damage, the PCM outputs
but not the inputs. CKP is input. or CMP

that Cam sensor, has 2 outputs, and crossing them (Green/Blue)
up causes no harm.!
cross the 2 power wires there blows F16.

are you using a real J18 harness or some CLoned one/?

CEL on key on, or is CEL lamp missing?
this lamp is a key lamp with no scan tool
if out, the PCM is dead.
but with scan tool , 1page one shows, CEL active or not, making the lamp useless to scan too owers.

Here are the min, things need to get spark , then fuel.
spark is first.
  1. power to PCM good and ground same.
  2. cops wire correctly no early cops allowed
  3. cam sensor both signals perfect.
  4. MAF voltage key on , not wrong, (air flow) but ecu can mimic it dead.(failsafe)
  5. the Cam sigs can not ever be mimiced by PCM,! so...
  6. if cam sigs are good, the PCM fires cops.
its that easy.
if spark read back works. (ignitor is missing in 1998, and was moved to inside each COP. so the read back must be good from each
cop or the PCM cuts injection (by laws, for fire safety etc)

if spark seems good, the PCM injects, but not if TPS is at WOT,
throttle angle. (TPS fibbing)
that is it.

TLC is traction control lamp. (lots of cause, read the FSM or operators guide its all there, just read it)

what coil?
what engine?
is it a COP coil?. coil over spark plug?
AKA> IGNITION COIL.
cars have many coils. relays , solenoids and spark,
name it.?
any coil at any time can short., they all do eventually
all things have and end, and shorting out is one thing.

add heat, and time an water , and boom faster.
a shorted spark pug can overload a COP.
doing tuneups on time ,saves the cost of new $100+ cop

the coil can short if the ECU that drives it fails.
if the ECU sends infinite dwell to the coil it does burn up every time.
we never change an cop until we check the drive line'
all this is in the FSM. and taught in all ASE classes.

we don't just swap parts and pray.
we do the tests and. then repair the cause first, then the collateral damage. last.

some cops dont have an ignitor inside.
and if the cop wire shorts to ground it burns up.
the exacty engine and year, we can look up that too.

I have a 1999 grand vitara and i am only getting spark from #2,#3,#4and 5 coil im not getting any spark from #1and 6. switch the coil pack same thing

no spark , by WHAT MEANS, test spark plug or DTC codes
just a clue here , really helps. no spark tell me not much.


the V6, 2.5L ???? lots of years, and some have radially different
park systems. (2.0L v6 is case in point)
ill answer for 99 GV , USA. No country stated. so.... ham strung.
now i must look up what coil pack yours has, mine has 6 COPS
would be nice if you said COPS or I have 8 coils.
as some have wasted spark with only 3 coils in a brick.
i go to alldata.com, so can you.
i click spark pages.
H25 engine.
has 6 cops. in 1999 here, just like my 04 (igitors are in the COPS)

no spark using a real test new spark plug ,gapped correctly
at 2 coils. 3pin COPs. do not use wrong type COPs. or blow up ECU.
is:
  1. lost 12v to both dead cops
  2. ECU bad. driving both. (or wires to it)
  3. lost ground conn. to those 2 COPS.
  4. Connectors on those 2 are corroded. (3 pins)
  5. The boots on both are full of carbon tracking and are shorted. a very common fail on old COPS. i buy new boots, they are like $15 not $75 to 150 each full cop.

COP means, COIL over PLUG.(spark plug)

my answers only cover USA spec cars....

did you test he cop boots off, cop?????
can be done.
(hands in pocket test or you glow like a June bug or worse)
100,000 volts there, open circuit, not fun to get NAILED.
been so , 100s of times.but not on HEI, only once. never again.

all.
and more than one engine, (typical for all cars)
4.3L LF6 or L35?

if you dont know,? the look in book for clues.
if no books? then open the glove box, see GM RPO tag
see that , find the Engine code. now you know.
GM RPO codes are easy to find using Google.ALL GM products.

now the other way
you open hood
you see the spark plugs, see them , they are attached to coils
or a dizzy. just look. ?
dizzy has cap and 6 wires. COPS has 3 or 6 COPs
dizzy or COPS x6 or 3 if wasted spark cops.
now you know the 3 systems (a general answer)
im must guess, as i dont know what engine you have.

here is a page showing you how.
remove COPS
blow out wells to stop stand from falling inside engine.
remove spark plug.
gap new spark plug.
put back spark plug
put on new boots.
put back oil cops and see of new boots (cheap)fix cops if they are bad.

Ok this is called misfire.
misfire can happen at any speed or RPM even IDLE.
im sure you had the spark plug wires/ or COPS connected
wrong. and is fixed , now.

98 expedition 5.4 4x4 with dual a/c..sputters and shakes while idle and driving...please help me ! i have replaced 5 of the 8 spark plugs till i can get to the back 3 (pain in the ****) no change not even...


When you know the symptom who needs codes?And if there was a code it probable say lean bank 02. why simple you have a misfire. the smell rich exhaust the shake and sputter in drive. 2 causes the Expedition suffer from ,An open EGR valve.If you can change a fuel filter and change a spark plug you can test this. when the engine is running and misfire at idle and the vehicle is warmed up and at operating temperature. Turn off engine. Go to the EGR is it hot to touch. because if it is it open and this the the culprit.Another misfrie is from COP (coil on plug.)When you change the spark plug where any of the spark boot torn or worn that spark can go through. Or even a faulty COP will do this .To find it you have the engine running and lift one COP out of the cylinder and listen for a engine drop if the engine RPM drop the COP is good if no change in engine the COP is bad. By the way 600rpm in drive is low

your car should not be near that, it should stay at the middle line or a little under. You need to keep an eye on your radiator fluid level. I just changed the radiator and thermostat in my wifes car. DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR IF ITS RUNNING THAT HOT, IT WILL BLOW YOUR MOTOR!!!
