Yes that would be expensive though. Also you might try going to your local auto parts store and getting a new tumbler and key. Sometimes that is still cheaper than going to the Dealership. Thanks for using FixYa!

Take your ownership papers, along with a picture ID to your dealer...they should be able to find the key code and replace it.

Hi there .... If you call the dealer with the vin number of the vehicle, they should be able to cut you a key. the only problem you may encounter is that they won't cut you a key without proof of ownership. If you bought this isuzu from an isuzu dealer I suggest you call them as they will have your info on hand. if not I hope you have your insurance papers handy cause you might be able to use them as proof of ownership. Hope this helps you out

2001 chevy cavalier lost key can I replace the ignition switch without a key?

the original key is coded to your car.
So changing the barrel to have a new key wont help and ill tell you why.
Inside the original key is a transponder chip that is programmed to the cars immobiliser unit.
Attached to the ignition barrel is whats called a reader coil and its job is to read the keys chip when inserted in the barrel to deactivate the immobiliser so that the car will start.
What you need to do is contact a good knowlegable locksmith to provide a new key and code it to your car

I lost my ignition keys....is there some way i can get a duplicate made through a product code or something without buying a new switch with keys or finding an expensive locksmith

Sorry, I think in this case a locksmith is the only way you are going to get out of this jam. You are going to have to call one in this situation. The only other thing I can think of is asking the dealership you got it from for another possible solution. I hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

I HAVE ONLY ONE KEY FOR IGNITION AND NOW I LOST THE KEY PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME.

Not what you want to hear but the dealership will cut a nwe one with proof of ownership....registration and license to match. otherwise, you may be able to call in a locksmith who may be able to at least get you in the vehicle...maybe even cut a key...good luck

Both keys have been lost to my 1997 Ford Mustang GT. I understand they have chips in them. What can I do?

You will need to tow to dealer , the dealer can use the cars vin number to cut a new key and reprogram the transpoder,, this is the only way i know about.

Where can I get a replacement key fob?

www.AutoTransponder.com/Chrysler

or

  • Call the dealership and ask what sort of key you need. Ask them how long it will take and how much it will cost to replace your key. A couple of hours should be expected, as each coded key still needs to be cut like a standard key. Generally, coded keys cost a little over $100.
  • 2 Call an automotive locksmith if you are unsatisfied with either the price or the time alloted to replace your key through the dealership. Many will come to your car and check your ignition as well as deliver your key in a timely fasion. Automotive locksmiths are best if getting to the dealership is a major inconvenience and may be much cheaper than towing a car with an ignition that needs to be repaired.
  • 3 Order your key. An automotive locksmith may be able to deliver it to you directly on site and will check to see if it is working and service your ignition as well. If you use a dealership, be sure to try the new keys in your Chrysler and make sure that they work. If not, the dealership may have coded the key incorrectly.

Lost keys how to replace them what do I need to do can a locksmith do it or does the dealership have a code to replace them

You can go through either the dealership or a locksmith. Usually the dealership will be more expensive, and the locksmith will come to you a lot of times, but that can get spendy, too. If you can get the door open, the cheapest way to do it would be to take the actual lock out of the door and bring it in to the locksmith. I know that this way costs around 15 bucks.

I have a 98 ford contour and lost the ignition key. how would i replace the lock?

Go to any Ford dealership with your VIN #, and proof of ownership, and they can cut you a key. A good locksmith can do the same.
