There shouldn't be any way it can be defective. If it has a cap then it is fine. Your radiator cap could be defective though if thats what you mean. If it isn't working it could cause your car to overheat by not sending and receiving cioolant from your overflow. Hope this helps.

Po455 generic evaporative emission system leak gross leak no flow

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0455 basicly means that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) does not see any change in the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTP) when: (A) vacuum is applied through the Purge Control Solenoid or (B) When the system is tested by the leak detection pump.

The code description says "GROSS LEAK/NO FLOW " because the PCM cannot tell if the problem is being caused by a large leak in the EVAP system components or if the problem is that the purge valve is not opening when it is commanded to do so.

The MOST COMMON cause of this code is either refueling the vehicle with the engine running or a fuel cap that is not installed properly. Check your fuel cap and make sure that the rubber seals in the cap are not dammagedor full of cracks. If you find obvious damage to the fuel cap seals, replace the cap. Otherwise, install the cap and make sure it "clicks" when you twist it on. The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) (also known as Check Engine Light) will go out in a couple of days if this was the problem. If it does not go out, then the system will need to be diagnosed.

> Loose, damaged, or improperly installed fuel cap
> Damaged, cracked or disconnected vacuum/purge hoses or lines.
> Faulty Purge Control Solenoid Valve
> Defective Leak Detection Pump
> Defective FTP sensor
> Defective PCM

This code cannot be caused by circuit failures unless this code is accompanied by other codes indicating circuit failures in one or more of the EVAP system components. In this case, the circuit failures MUST be addressed FIRST.

My jeep grand cheorkee has no power steering at all when i went to get my serpentine belt replaced thats when my power steering went can you tell me how to check if my power steering pump went or i might...

Fill is on the left (drivers side) of the unit. Drain is usually on the bottom but some are on the passenger side near the bottom. Both are usually normal wrench size, though I've seen some that use a star wrench or some that have been replaced with a hex female plug. Open the fill plug first because if that one is frozen and you drain it, you won't be able to re-fill.

Service engine soon light stays on. The gas cap is very hard to take off and put on

The SES light will come on with a missing or defective gas cap. Try getting a new gas cap and installing to fix the problem.

Otherwise, have the SES light scanned to see what other problem may exist.

Hope this helps.

I have a 94 dodge stealth and when u press the clutch it just stays on the floor. I have replaced both the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder but it has fixed the problem yet.

  • Okie dokie,,,they have a really hard bleed success rate.. you can do it by your self ...follow my steps...
  • make sure the pedal is off the floor in the up position
  • use the 10mm unscrew the bleeder screw on the slave cyl about 2 full revoloutions
  • pour fluid in the clutch res start to look down watch it come out the bleeder screw, wait a few seconds and tighten the screw.
  • keep filling the can be messy then put the top cap on the resvoir snug...
  • now you bleed, untighten the bleeder screw a 1/4 turn then go push on your clutch pedal, it if does not go down loosen another 1/4 turn...
  • if the pedal hits the floor>>>>tighten the bleeder screw first then pick-up the peadal...
  • make sure the resevoir is half full ....
  • okay loosen the bleeder screw 1/4 to 1/3 turn again, push the peadal to the floor... let it go all the way down.
  • then go tighten the bleeder screw , and pick up the pedal....
  • keep an eye on your resevoir ...
  • note if you ever remove the clutch cap to fill you must bleed the system..the cap does not hold pressure but it does provide a suction...!!!

Need help locating a diagram for the air conditioning unit on my 1999 grand am so that I can recharge my unit.

The LO side charge port should be on the lines on the back of the a/c compressor on that car. Some of them have a blue plastic cap on the service port and some have a black cap. ONLY CHARGE ON TH LO SIDE!  There should be a tag under the hood that tells you the proper amount of charge to go into the car as well somewhere around 1.3 Lbs. Good luck.
