did you have the flywheel turned? Did you re-use anything from the old clutch?

  • Kate Oct 27, 2012

The garage said that I didn't need a new flywheel, they just fitted a new clutch kit

  • Kate Oct 27, 2012

I'm not sure that it is actually the clutch though... it is just slow to pick up in 1st...

SOURCE: clutch slipping m4 golf

Best check for this is to get the car around 30mph, put it in top gear, and floor the gas. If the clutch is going to slip, this is when it'll happen. If it slips, you'll need to replace it. If it doesn't, there's likely no issue with the clutch and you'll have to look elsewhere for the problems you're seeing.

SOURCE: golf 1 clutch keeps slipping

Yes, replace it. It wears out just like brake rotors do. If it is too thin the clutch will slip.

My 2000 VW Jetta TDI suddenly lost power on the interstate. It seemed that it took twice the RPMs to keep the same speed. Is this the turbo kicking off? At lower speeds it feels as if it does not change...

Most likely its your transmission slipping You will need to have it checked by a mechanic if the rpm is double then it has nothing to do with the turbo, if it's a automatic it means the clutches are slipping or if it's a standard it means the clutch is slipping from being worn out or the pressure plate is wore out.
