SOURCE: 1997 VW Golf...airbag light on...fault codes read

Did you have the code cleared after you installed the new part because the ECM cannot clear itself, even though you installed a new part and the code is still in the system? You need to have the code erased with a OBD II scanner.

SOURCE: I have a 2007 Volkswagen

All the wiring for those buttons pass thru the same rotary connector - either that connector got unhooked somehow or something spilled in there and it got shorted.
To fix that you must take out the steering column shrouds and then the steering wheel itself and test the connector - at least a basic experience with car electric and airbag systems is needed. If you don't have it (and working with airbags when you don't have the necessary skills is extremely dangerous) then you will have to take the car to your local repair shop. At worst they will replace the contact - less than 300 euros part and labor.

Can the clock spring stop my cruise control from activate, not even the indicator light in cluster .

If the clock spring is defective it can affect the cruise control if the buttons are on the steering wheel. Usually the horn will also be affected as well and the airbag light on constantly

Cruise controlnot working

Do you have an airbag light lit ? Are your cruise control buttons on the steering wheel . If so the clock spring could have an open circuit. A clock spring is a part inside the steering column , under the steering wheel . Check out this video on clock spring .
https://youtu.be/4jv2DW39drA if no airbag light ,then probably not this part.

Reset 2004 honda accord steering wheel controls?

A thing called the "Clock Spring" in the steering wheel needs replacing. It has all the wires in that operate that stuff on the steering wheel and airbag. There may also be a sliding ground connection that could be bad or dirty.

2001 f250 airbag light came on horn won't work or cruise controls or automatic hubs won't lock. Is this all connected? It happened at the same time

The horn switch and the air bag and cruise control wiring in the steering wheel go through the clock spring, ford calls it air bag sliding contact. The clock springs have been know to go bad.

Horn doesn't work, abs light on dash stays on and also cruise control does not work either

Typical reason for no cruise and horn is a bad clock spring underneath the airbag. Typically you have an airbag light on as well and not an abs light

I lost all power to the steering wheel components,

Your issue is most likely the clock spring which is part of the air bag system.

All of the signals controlling these functions are routed through the clock spring.

Should cost around 200-300 to have it done, or more like 100-150 if you do it yourself. You must know what you are doing though as the airbag system is not to be taken lightly.

I have a 2001 Stratus. Airbag light stays on

That happened to me when the clock spring in the steering wheel broke. But the clock spring controls the air bags, horn and cruise control. Check if your horn and cruise control works. If not, I bet it's the clock spring from turning your wheel. It was about $150 to replace. Good luck!

Cruise control, and radio controls on steering wheel, now air bag

The problem is the coiled ribbon contact under the steering wheel (we call it the clock-spring contact) that connects the stereing wheel controls to the steering column wiring harness, this is a printed circuit that is coiled to allow the wheel to move and still have a psychical contact for the wheel switch's and the airbag, anyway replace that contact coil, u must disarm the airbag to do this repair, follow the factory procedure to do this or serious injury can result if the airbag fires.
