Question about 1992 Pontiac Grand Am
If i gave it gas it would be fine but id have to keep my foot on the gas pedal at all timesor itd die. the motor is a 4 cylinder doch dont know if that makes a difference
It could be misfiring, where did you get those codes? but the Crankshaft Position Sensor should be somewhere between the intake manifold and the firewall. The Quad Drive is electronics related, supposedly the most common cause of this code is the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation) and should be near the cylinder heads and are also said to be easy to replace. Quad Driver A module monitors the low speed fan, Evap canister purge solonoid, the HIGH TEMP light, and TCC apply. Quad Driver B module covers the shift solonoids and EGR valve.

get your catalytic converter checked, i have a 2002 gt model and GM just replaced the old with a new one free of charge. They have been having problems with them clogging up so they extended the warranty to 190000kms or 10 years. had the same issues as you and when it was replaced all was good, even sounded better. hope this helps and I hope you get the same deal as I did. it is not a recall so you have to bring it up to them. Good luck.

SOURCE: cylinder 3 misfire
Make sure you're using the recommended spark plugs. When my car did that, I had put Bosch Platinum Plus-4 plugs in and got that same problem. Turns out the plugs are too hot and cause it to fire prematurely and kick the misfire code.

Most likely your throttle position sensor is faulty. You could have a vacuum leak as well. Most probable cause is a bad sensor. Is your check engine light on? Have you checked your engine codes? You can go to autozone.com and register for full free online repair manual.

Testimonial: "the check engine light had been on but we unplugged the battery yesterday for a couple of hours and put it back in and the light isn't on anymore. "
before you spend anymore have it hooked up to a real time engine analyser like a bdm pro, or a snapon scanner, take it for a drive and snapshoot scanner when the problem arises, could be a sensor like tps or an actuator, but will not register a code, just a flag
