It could be misfiring, where did you get those codes? but the Crankshaft Position Sensor should be somewhere between the intake manifold and the firewall. The Quad Drive is electronics related, supposedly the most common cause of this code is the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation) and should be near the cylinder heads and are also said to be easy to replace. Quad Driver A module monitors the low speed fan, Evap canister purge solonoid, the HIGH TEMP light, and TCC apply. Quad Driver B module covers the shift solonoids and EGR valve.

get your catalytic converter checked, i have a 2002 gt model and GM just replaced the old with a new one free of charge. They have been having problems with them clogging up so they extended the warranty to 190000kms or 10 years. had the same issues as you and when it was replaced all was good, even sounded better. hope this helps and I hope you get the same deal as I did. it is not a recall so you have to bring it up to them. Good luck.

SOURCE: cylinder 3 misfire

Make sure you're using the recommended spark plugs. When my car did that, I had put Bosch Platinum Plus-4 plugs in and got that same problem. Turns out the plugs are too hot and cause it to fire prematurely and kick the misfire code.

Most likely your throttle position sensor is faulty. You could have a vacuum leak as well. Most probable cause is a bad sensor. Is your check engine light on? Have you checked your engine codes? You can go to and register for full free online repair manual.

before you spend anymore have it hooked up to a real time engine analyser like a bdm pro, or a snapon scanner, take it for a drive and snapshoot scanner when the problem arises, could be a sensor like tps or an actuator, but will not register a code, just a flag

Why does my 99 pontiac grand prix gtp supercharge keep stalling

I would check the idle air control valve before replacing anything.
The computer regulates the idle speed by controlling the amount of air entering the intake thru the throttle body.
The valve could be faulty, or the throttle body can be gummed up.
Is the check engine light on ?

1992 Plymouth Grand Voyager won't start, fuel pump runs for about 1/2 second when you turn on the key

The power control module sends signal to the fuel pump relay, it gets it's signal from the pick up coil in the distributor and the crankshaft position sensor. I'm having the same issues with my 94 Jeep Wrangler

I replced the crankshaft positioning sensor under the distributor and now the engine wont start. it turns over and almost starts but not quite. its really frustrating cause ive been trying to figure out...

What you just replaced was the cam sensor (also called a stator). Either it's not indexed properly in the distributor or you have the distributor in a tooth off. As the distributor isn't adjustable, you can't turn it to compensate. The item you intended to replace is the crank sensor which is located on the drivers side of the bellhousing at about 11 o'clock looking from the rear. I can't remember the exact indexing procedure for the sensor you changed but likely you already have a manual that shows the way it's installed. I do remember something about using an alignment pin while installing to keep the part where it belongs. Shutting down while driving is a symptom common to both those sensors as well as the fuel pump. However, other sensors need to be tested as well just to be sure. Have the system scanned and see if any codes are stored. Manuals also outline individual component tests that can be done using a digital ohmeter.

Hi again I have the same problem with my 97 grand cherokee larado. It just keeps dying while driving and then spmetimes it back fires before dying I have replaced exhaust o2 semsor crank regulator sensor...

I had a similar problem with a 1992 BMW 3 Series, it would idle funny, backfire, and then die. The problem turned out to be with the mass air flow sensor, it just need to be cleaned (I used break clean). Eventually I replaced the sensor, but cleaning one or twice a month seemed to do the trick.

A bad throttle position sensor wouldn't cause those symptoms. Return it before you waste more money. Check the EGR valve to make sure it's fully closed at idle

spark plug gaps are very critical on computerised cars!! [some wont even start!]
distributor module may be breeaking down as temp rises they fail!
otherwise do compression check as it may have valve problems
also check plug leads & injectors aswell as the fuel pump pressure [ could bestarving for fuel]
