Hello
It sounds like timing belt has jumped a few teeth, This means the belt is old and strechedand needs replaced, If your getting spark its not broken yet, (Do not run car!!!!!!) This also changes the valve timing and you can blow the motor.

Sounds like your timing belt has slipped or broken, bad news is it is a interference engine, talking rebuild if that is the problem.

Sounds like either a bad plug wire, or coil pack. This is about all that would cause the misfire.

SOURCE: spark plug wires diagram for 91 gmc sierra

ok number 1 piston should be a top dead centre & mabe on the top of the cap is a mark or number
if not then there should be a mark on the lip of the dizzy!
if not then just choose one near the front & set the points at that point on the point of sparking! [ready to open points] make sure you have spark or you may have left ou the insulator on the points locating pin!!!
then its a matter of the firing order!
i hope this helps
cheers Rob

I have an 03 5.7 dodge crew cab 4x4 truck the spark plugs are firing there is fuel pressure. And I have compression. I can't figure it out. What the problem?

You do not describe what is wrong, I am guessing it will not start? If it has fuel and good sparkthe fault must be with the timing somewhere or there is something seriously wrong with the engine internally. You say you have compression, is it good, also is the reading from all cylinders similar? If compression is good and similar in all cylinders Icannot see it being anything other than timing. Are all plugs sparking well? Are the leads on the plugs correctly.
The injection HAS TO COINCIDE WITH THE SPARK. Can't see it being anything else if all is as described.
You will find the fault
Good Luck

I have a 2001 3.0 ford taurus compression on all cylinders less than 90 psi

The car should start, even with low compression in some cylinders. Since two things are needed for combustion, fuel and spark, you need to figure out which is the problem. Remove a spark plug (or buy a spark tester from harbor freight) and check for spark at the plug. Without a tester, simply attach the plug wire to the plug while removed from the engine and rest the base of the plug on the engine block (grounding it). Have someone turn the engine over with the key and observe if you see a hot spark jumping the gap of the plug.
Recommend you go to the library and borrow a copy of Chilton's for your car model.

Why wont 1 spark plug fire

ok did you check to see if the spark plug wire is good and if it is good take out the spark plug and put it on the spark plug wire that its not firing on if it fire at the spark plug then you should do a compression test if the compression is bad you may have a burn valve or something and that would be what causing the misfire

Truck is not firing on 3 cylinders yet it runs.. Runs really rough, back fires, under powered.. Plugs are Wet, Firing order is correct. New Spark plug cables. Don't know that is wrong! Please Help

Check for spark at the plug ( may have coil problem).
If spark is good then do a compression check. Pressure shouldn't be less than 75% of known good cylinders.

No,4 plug not fireing changed plug wires.new coil.plug ran good for 100 miles then 4 stop again

You would need to figure out if it is a problem inside the cylinder or with something like the crank-cam sensor firing the coil. I would change the plug again to see if it works for a few days.
Could be a problem with the fuel injector or a vac leak if the plug is firing but no power from that cylinder.

Car wont start or fire even with starting fluid

To review - - if you have spark, fuel, and compression, you should have combustion.
In this case, if the timing belt is damaged, you might not have compression or spark at the right time.
A faulty crank or cam sensor could cause you not to have spark at the right time.
The spark plugs could be worn out or fuel fouled and not able to fire under compression.
Did the car die or just not start ?

every possibility that the timing ( firing order) is wrong from what you describe
bring the engine to tdc no1 piston on compression and that is no 1 plug lead in the distributor cap

Car will not start has spark and fule

try removing the coil pack and see if its cracked ,it might not be throwing out enough power to spark under compression .
