Question about 2010 Chevrolet Chevrolet Traverse LTZ

The paint on the radio buttons is peeling badly and looks horrible. Dealer says it is not a warranty item since radio still works. How can I get GM to cover?

The radio and climate control buttons are coated with a black paint that allows light to shine through to identify each buttons function. The buttons that get used the most are peeling the worst.

I am disappointed the dealer could not help. Is there another GM dealer nearby? Some replacement knobs are available at parts stores/ you will have to match up with what you have. Good luck!

If you can't get the dealer to help (which really sucks from a customer loyality standpoint) I would visit a local junkyard. Or go on-line to a junkyard setting that way too.

Is there a factory warranty on paint for a vehicle past the bumper to bumper warranty?

call and ask gm but I would say no- sounds like contaminated primer - if you have time, you can strip and do yourself- brake fluid will easily strip paint- rent booth and shoot it- keep smiling- its only cosmetic

Is there a GM factory warranty on paint for a vehicle past the bumper to bumper warranty?

You will need to go to a Chevy dealership to see about getting an extended warranty but first they would need to re-certify the vehicle. They only do that to vehicles they get traded in typically. If there was a recall concerning paint they may pick up the tab. I'd recommend going to a dealership in person so you won't be given the run around. Talk to a manager, there will be much haggling involved. Chevy/ GM dealerships are notorious for screwing people on their warranties. They'll try to get you to trade in your van for something else but maybe that would be your best bet so you wouldn't be out of a vehicle for long and can get a warranty package that suites your needs. Don't go with any extended warranties that come from third parties (such as Mercury), they take forever to get your car fixed if they ever do and those warranties aren't honored by dealerships.

Grille has been peeling for a year now and no one as any suggestions other than just replacing it! WIth the same thing!! For the same problem to happen again???? Is there any way to get Nissan to help with...

Not much you can do for peeling chrome from a grill. (I assume it is plastic). If it is metal you can check with a chrome shop toi see what they'd charge you to rechrome it. Another option is to check with after-market auto accessories places and see if they don't have an after market grill for your vehicle. Replacement is about all you can do. I would be very suprised if any extended warranties would cover peeling chrome. I think you are stuck with this one. You can consider having it painted. Cheapest replacement would be from your local junkyard or carparts.com ( on-line listing of junkyards) but you may just be buying someone else's problem. It oculd be much worse. There ahev been cars that litterally shed their paints clear coat and the owners were just out of luck. As far as why the dealer tried to get you to pay for the repair, that's easy; money. He would probably be able to charge you more for the repair than the extended warranty would pay.

Peeling paint on Dodge 93 Caravan

The paint is not covered under any warranty. Especially for anything over 15 years old. Even if you purchased a warranty extension through US Fedelis or equivelant, It is still not covered.
It will probably cost about $2000 to have it repainted. You can always call around for cheaper prices.

I purchased my Endeavor in 2004, and it has been garage kept since then. This past year I noticed the paint fading really bad on the hood and on top. My dealership nearby where I take my car to get...

I have a 2004 Black Mitsubishi Endeavor with the exact same problem and of course the paint is no longer under warranty. I called 1-888-MITSU2009 (Mon-Fri 8-7 central time). The woman (Mariam) told me to take it to a local Mitsubishi dealer to have the paint inspected. She said they should be able to advise me from there, but if not, call Mitsubishi back and let them know what the dealer said regarding the inspection. I took it to a dealer and had to talk to several different people before they got me to the right one. He looked at it and said it was definitely bad paint. I got a bit lucky because there happened to be a regional Mitsubishi rep. there that day, who also looked at it and said, right there on the spot, that they would take care of it. This was a Friday just a few weeks ago and the following Monday my truck was in a body shop being painted ($4,000 paint job). The Mitsubishi representative told me this seems to be a problem with both black and silver mitsubishi's in and around 2004. Apparantly they are looking at these paint issues case by case, however, I think that is wrong. If you google "bad paint 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor", which I did, you'll be shocked at the number of people with this problem and Mitsubishi hasn't issued some kind of recall. But, they fixed mine. Mileage seems to be a factor, if there is a ton of miles on it they may not cover it. I have 68,700 miles and it was OK. The mitsu rep. also said if it were 1 year older, it probably wouldn't be covered.

Anyway, call the number I posted for you and start there. Its worth the effort - I was ready to get rid of mine, but I like it for one, and wouldn't get much in a trade because of the paint. I also looked into getting it painted - It just looked horrible - all over the hood, roof, down the back lift gate, and some down the doors - horrible. Definitely worth the effort trying with Mitsubishi - saved me $4,000.

Good Luck to You!

Paint peeling on my ford f-150

I have actually fixed these trucks under warranty. The EPA is the root cause of this, and lack of testing the newer system, this problem is pretty much of the past as the newer vehicle have a better system on them to complie with EPA regs.
