SOURCE: My 2005 Kia Sedona heater

yes, actuator--black box with motor and gears inside that rotates the blend door. I think yours is right on the front of the heater box, to the right of center under dash. Remove actuator and check door for proper operation. If it opens and closes smoothly by hand, replace the actuator. If the door is sticking, you will probably have to take the heater box out of the car, split it open, and repair whatever is keeping it from opening.

SOURCE: 2005 kia sedona - no rear heat

Look on your dash on the ride side of your radio, there are 4 black squares, the botton three are usually blank, the top one says RR HTR, push that one in. If the heat does not work than join the club, mine has only blown warm heat in the last 2 years. I've had the rad flushed and all the rear lines replaced. moz-screenshot.jpg

SOURCE: KIA SEDONA HAS REAR HEAT BUT NOT FRONT HEAT

This could be a serious problem. Check your coolant level, then check the rear heater lines that supply coolant to the rear heater. They run under the van, over time they rust and leak. Because it is under and to the rear of the van it is hard to notice, i.e. coolant puddles and smell. But please note that this engine has aluminum cylinder heads and does not take kindly to being overheated.

If the heater hoses for the front heater are getting hot, it could be a blend door problem under the dash.

Kia Sedona- center and third row heating vents blowing cold air

This model has a rear heat/cold blend door actuator. Its an electric motor that moves the duct door from hot to cold. When they wear out, they're usually stuck on the last setting

We own a 2005 Kia Sedona that has worked well for a long time. However, recently the heating has stopped working and blows cold air.

Yes the fix is to remove the dash from the car and replace the blend door and the blend door actuator.

It probably is what your calling the butterfly (blend door), and the blend door motor has gone bad. This is a common thing on these units...The motor is around $30 and esilly replaced. Buy yourself a manual from any parts store and it will give you the details.
