Whywontmy2002 trailblzer not shift into first or overdrive trans stays in third and starts off in second already replced shift solonoids

You started at the wrong end. The speed sensor controls the function of those solenoids you just replaced. Did you change the transmission Fluid and filter, it was due at 80,000 miles. Perform an OBDII scan of the stored fault history. let the OBDII scan be your guide to repairs, to avoid buying parts you don't need. Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up or overdrive as well as no down shift back to 1st.

I drive my car every day and I think the overdrive not work becouse when I drove 60 miles the tranny sungs like forse

my transmission would stay in first gear , if this is the problem get a control soleniod sensor from junk yard i did it worked fine. first get a haynes sebring repair book: it is located on top of trans on driver side, you cannot see it, remove accelerator cable and cruise control cable, two screw holding metal pipe on manifold wire fitting on soleniod, then bolt holding it twist and pull gently it will slide out. BUT FIRST, PRACTICE ON A SEBRING AT JUNK YARD. it was easy but it took time a very tight fit, i saved $300 i hope this helps

I have a Toyota Corolla 96 automatic. I was driving slow, then when I accelerate, it would not shift to 3rd gear. When I pulled over, I turned the Car off. Then restart and the shifting was ok. I am...

year, make and trans, all in one post , 1st time in 3000, cheers to you.! way to go.
the A/T (protection)
is fluid level ok? (op guide shows how) do not over fill !
never drive a slipping A/t

now many A/T starting in early 90s have the first tranny brains.
called TCMs. trans,control modules)
it also has what is called limphome mode, on failure you lose gears, a gear can be cut, to to stop further slippage and heat damage.
and all TCM have error codes. but how to get them varies by year and car make .
the early TCM has flash codes, today its part of OBD2 port and is now scan codes. (easy)

ill try to look up toy way. (im a lover of all 1996 cars.. and not post 2006.)
here:
toy calls this ETC, electronic trans controls)
6 fuses in total to make this work. but is part of ECU
ahh very progressive, the TCM/ETC is inside the ECU.
fully integrated.
3 soleniod drivers to got Tranny to sequence the soleniods. inside same
id bet any scan tool will read your tranny codes, P07xx codes DTCs are tranny codes, so use a scan tool (any OBD2 tool)

there is a OD line, that runs overdrive and clutch lock up with a relay. are you sure 3rd is missing and not the lockup?
The TCM will in fact tell you, (DTC) bad OD lock,, bad soleniods.
or slippage, best look first. for DTCS stored, pendings or freeze frames showing P07xx codes or others. related.
here is the schem.

How to know whether my corolla 96 overdrive is on/ off mode... how to turn it off to get fuel efficency.? whether any indicator is there to know my overdrive is on/off.?

Yoiu should turn the overdrive switch on for better fuel efficiency.IF you have tacho an speedo there should be about 10% higher speed for the samme tacho rpm .IF there is no difference them overdrive soleniod is not engaging the overdrive gearset at the rear of the transmission

This code means theres a problem with the shift soleniod for the 3-4 shift, have this soleniod tested, its locted on the valvebody if the pan was dropped you will see the soleniod.

JeffMy f250 trans shifts ok one minute then down shifts hard od light is flashing then shift patterns are all over the place.

You may have a bad speed sensor or a bad overdrive soleniod, the first thing to do is have the computer scanned for codes, the codes will point you in the right direction of where the problem is , hope this is helpful.

Hi! My 97 cavalier 2.2L is not shifting into overdrive. So I can't drive pass 50 mph... Engine is running to high (3000rpm). Is there a cheap solution such as changing selenoids or something like that?...

YES THERE IS BUT YOU YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE INPUTS TO THE TRANS ARE CORRECT AKA,AN OPEN BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH CAUSE YOUR PROBLEM IF THEY ARE CORRECT THEN YOU MAY NEED A TCC SOLENIOD AND SWITCH WHICH IS CHEAPER THEN A TRANS YOU MUST CHECK THE INPUTS!!!!!
