SOURCE: Forgot lights on. Trying to jump start.

When using a booster of the type you are make sure you have a good clean and tight connectio where you are hooking it to the battery. If you do not have a good connetion the jump will not work , because no current is going from booster to your car. If your battery is too dead a jump will not work either the battery would have to be pulled charged and checked. The battery may have to be replaced. If this is the original battery and the car is a 2005 the battery is about due for replacement.

SOURCE: Car wont start

The amount of power required to start your engine is significantly greater than what it takes to play the radio or burn the headlights, so those items working don't necessarily mean the battery is adequate. Your description indicates the following:

  1. Battery: an old or damaged battery can fail without notice.
  2. Belt: the squealing belt indicates that it is loose or glazed and does not have the tension in order to turn components at their proper speeds. This could lead to the alternator not performing as it should.
  3. Alternator: loose connections, a failing component, or a loose belt can cause the alternator to perform poorly.
The above items can be checked by a qualified mechanic in a matter of minutes or less. Some part stores offer a free test of your charging system, whether the component is on the vehicle or you have removed the part and carried it in for testing.

Car keeps dying

Try replacing your battery as it sounds like your battery is not holding charge. When you get a boost from other car your using the other cars power to start yours. It only takes a little power to light dash lights etc but takes a LOT of power to start motor.

Battery will stay charged

Have the battery charged and tested and then test the charging system. You should never run a car with a very dead battery. that will burn out the alternator.

Car will not start

this doesn't sound good at all. if you couldn't jump start it within a few minutes, you should have stopped right there. maybe you were jumpping the car wrong, from doing so, you may have fried the computer, that rounds your entire engine. try installing a new battery, if any codes were stored in the computer, clear them out. some times just removing the battery cables for a few minutes will do this . sometimes not. try to start the engine. donot jump start, see if will start on its own. if not, seek professional help, keep blaming goodyear until you get results !!!!!!

You dont need a computer. You need a new Body Control Module. Located under the center console but forward towards the dash. A very common problem with these cars. NOT A USED ONE....A NEW ONE. They are VIN specific.

Left lights on Suzuki Vitara and now can not unlock the door

Can't help with a problem of getting into the car, assuming the keys don't work. As for charging the battery, make sure all accessories are off in both cars, hook up the cables to the dead battery first, noting which one goes to the + cable on the battery. That same cable will go to the + terminal on the car that is running. Make the last connection the one that goes to the - terminal on the running car.
Let the battery charge for 2-3 minutes and then try to start. If it doesn't start after 5 minutes, rev the engine on the jump car and that will add voltage to the connection. Try to start again after a few minutes. After you get it going, let your car run for 20 minutes to build up the battery. When disconnecting the cables, keep the ends from touching until all cables are disconnected from the batteries.
