SOURCE: how to change fuel pump

there are 2 straps that hold the tank up in place by 2 bolts.when you remove those it will allow the tank to drop down so have to take the fuel lines loose when the tank is part way down and the wiring harness and the the clamp that goes to the filler tube to the gas tank. once thats all done and you have the tank off the car there will be a large O ring you have to turn on the pump assy to get the old pump out and put the new one in. it goes back together the same way you take it apart only in reverse. its not hard to do just time consuming. you will want to put a jack under the tank to help lower it to the ground and then to help raise it back up to bolt it back in place.

Turn the steering wheel to the full left position.
Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable remote terminal from the remote battery post.

This is for 2.4L, in the diagram, the bottom wire on the left carries voltage to fuel pump. If you unplug the relay and use proper jumper wire on the terminals at load side of relay, the load side of relay is that line with arrow head, two terminals, the pump should run. You can see the fuse for load side is hot all the time. I don't know what testing you have done or the problem your having. I guess your fuel pump isn't running, there could be several reasons for that.

Car won't start is their a reset button for fuel pump.

Your car doesn't have a reset type of button for the fuel pump. The pump is powered by a relay fed by a 20 amp [usually] fuse and the relay is controlled by the engine computer. The pump doesn't run with just the the key turned "on" unless the engine is cranking or running.

Yeah, The fuel tank is going to have to be dropped.
The seal around the fuel pump be careful to not damage it.
You may need a special tool to take off the nut that secures the fuel pump . I would take to a shop if it seems to hard to tackle.

Good Luck
