Question about 2004 Mazda 3

1 Answer

Mazda 3 Was out for 10 minute drive/30 mins out of car. Have had this problem before but this was the first time I couldn't get it out of park for several tries. What is/does the neutral switch for/do?

Does this sound like it might be the problem (neutral safety switch)? It's happened a few times before but this was the first time it was stuck in park. Plus when it did start the lights seemed to take longer to "automatically" come on. This is an automatic transmission I should probably have mentioned..

No year make or model. But, clean the throttle body inside and the idle air control motor. Mass air flow sensor if you have on. Use a brush and brake clean. But don't use a brush on the MAF sensor, just spray both sides. This should help. The car computer learns your driving habits. So if this is what you drive, 15 and 30 minutes. I would reset the computer. Pull the battery cable off the battery for 30 minutes. Puts it back to factory defaults.

Since you can drive about 30 min before problems show up it would probably be bad coils. The other ones listed would not give you such a lengthy grace period and the coils are the only ones prone to overheating when weak. Best guess.

Car shuts off while driving

if car shuts off while driving it could be a bad crank sensor. a bad crank sensor will shut car off while driving, then it will not start for about 10 minutes, when it starts it runs fine until it goofs up again. the popping could be the sensor for it controls timing along with the cam sensor.

Car stalls changed spark plugs still wont start

Not a lot to go on! Remove the distributor cap and see if turns when the engine is cranked. My guess is the timing belt is shot. Frankster016
