2005 gmc sierra head lights brighten and dim while driving

This is caused by either a poor ground connection to the head lights or an overcharging condition taking place in the voltage regulator of the alternator, the spikes in output voltage causes the head lights to brighten up.

Oil leak and orange oil light stays on briefly after starting up, also slight water leak. i suspected head gasket at first but eliminated that after the combination of these two faults causing fluid loss....

why eliminate head gasket? head gasket failure can cause loss of both fluids. i suspect the oil light is lost oil pressure because the head gasket is toast or the head is now warpped and thus leaking. you should be able to see signs of leakage around the head.

do you see any oil getting into your rad? if not then the oil must be leaking around the head.

94 nissan truck doesn't have running lights, or dash lights. I hard wired the lights with a lead that ran directly from the positive terminal on the battery to the positive lead in to the bulb so I could...

If by running current as you said fixes the problem. Then you have to check the head light swich and see if it is sending current out on all the needed wires. If it is you have a break in the wires some where. But for it to act the way you say the head light switch is probably the cause.
