98 Tahoe Starter will not engage. all lights, radio ect. work just will not crank

Start by checking to see if there is power on the small purple wire at the starter with the key in the crank position. If there is not than the pull the starter relay and see if there are two pins that are grounded, one pin with power all the time and one pin with power with the key in the crank position. If one of these does not check out let me know and I will get you some more info.

Won't start

Most likely the alarm cpu or control module. Sometimes the relay between the module and the starter interrupt goes bad, trace the wiring, find the relay, make sure all connections are secure, if so, try replacing the relay. If not the problem, have it towed and have alarm checked out. There are a few other things to check. However, me realistically diagnosing the problem the way you describe would be like someone listening to a motor over the telephone and trying to determine if a cylinder has low compression. Nearly impossible. Without an actual working knowledge of the mechanics involved with your specific auto you will be lost. I could even describe how to by-pass the alarm between starter and battery, but unless I am there I would not suggest doing it by yourself. In any event, find the alarm cpu/module, follow the wiring to the relay that operates starter/interrupt, check wiring and/or replace relay. If this doesn't work, bring it to a good alarm mechanic, shop around and check the BBB for good guys in the business. One last thing, check your battery, make sure the voltage is appropriate and battery connections are secure. Good luck!

Changed starter...new battery....lights and radio work nothing happens when turn the key.

Starter Fuse? Possible failed ignition switch. Loose Cables on battery or starter. Starter not grounding properly. Bad starter Relay? Use Voltmeter check voltage going to main starter wire while someone cranks the motor if not power check power to starter relay while cranking if no power suspect ignition switch.

1990 fleetwood starting prob.turn key nothing i can hear fuel pump the relays click i can jump starter. but nothing changed starter it was on its way out checked all fuses cheked all fuse links cheked key...

I would check the ignition switch. With a test light, check the small wire going to the solenoid for power when someone turns the key to the starting position. If you aren't getting power to that terminal on the starter, the ignition switch is not sending power to the solenoid.

When i took my jeep to the emission test it pass but as soon as i got home and try to start my jeep it didn't start but the radio and lights are still working what could be the problem with it.

Probably unrelated to inspection. Have you tried re-setting the security system (usually locking the drivers door or the rear hatch using the key, then unlocking also with the key will do that). I'd also clean the battery terminals. A dirty connection will allow enough current flow to run low-draw items such as radio and lights but the connection will break down when loaded by the starter which draws far more amperage than any other item in the system.
If neither of the above work, check the starter relay in the power distribution center and the starter itself, to make sure that voltage is getting to where it needs to be when starting. If you need to go that far and don't know how, ask and I'll give you that info!

Where is the starter relay on a 1996 Buick LeSabre? The car will start if the starter solenoid is jumped across, but not with switch only. I need to check the starter relay, but can't find it.

ok. the relay is under dash drivers side left of the steering column. now first check for power with key in the start position. at the heavy yellow wire at the relay and then check the purple wire if both have power then your neutral safety switch mybe at fault. check it as well. check for power at the switch bolted to transmission. the two heavy wires going to the switch will be starter in and starter out. so check for power at the two there if power goes in but nothing comes out the change the neutral safety switch.
