Things to check before replacing the fan motor.
Relay Power Supply and Ground Unit

  • These are the first two components worth checking if your cooling fan is not turning on when you switch the air conditioning on -- which it should every time. As explained by AA1 Carremove radiator cooling fan from renault scenic 20 - icon1.png, a good relay coil will typically read 40 to 80 Ohms, but if the resistance is high, even if the coils still works, the relay will not, and you will see a failure in the system. It may also fail when the electrical load on the circuit is too high for it to cope, which is referred to as a "cut-out." When the coil has no resistance, the relay will need to be replaced with a new one because it will never work.
Thermostat Unit
  • The thermostat unit can stop cooling fan relays from working properly, since the two appear in series in the circuit, which means the electrical current moves directly between them so that when one is faulty, the other can be affected. If your relays are not performing well, you have the option to bypass the thermostat using a length of continuous wire. But the thermostat's function will then be lost if you cut it out of the circuit -- so bear this in mind before making final changes. Also check the integrity of the thermostat housing, which is responsible for temperature regulation as well, according to Car Tech Auto-parts.

SOURCE: Radiator Fan continuously running with engine off, discharging battery

It is not the fault: for long time Renault has that concept, that is to prevent engine oveheating when coolant circulation is suddenly stopped.

Radiator fan can continue to work up to 10 minutes after engine is off. You should worry about it only if it wouldn't stop even after 10 minutes.

SOURCE: how to fit a renault scenic fan belt

Basically locate the tensioner which is a round black plastic pulley, it should have a 13mm bolt through the middle of which, and an allen key hole as well? This hole may also be in the form of a torx ?
There are so many difference types of engine it would be difficult to explain all of them.
On some tensioners you must put your 13mm (long) spanner onto the bolt and lever it toward yourself (from front of vehicle), this will allow slack on the belt, dont let go, have your assistant pull the belt off whilst you hold the tensioner off.
Then simply refit the belt / fit a new one. Dont forget the way it is routed, i.e draw picture of how the belt sits around each pulley.

SOURCE: renault megane scenic RX4 climate control fan has failed

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.

SOURCE: 2003 Audi TT Quatro Coupe.

The main reason for the over heating of the audi tt is to do with the water pump. The propeller within the first type of water pumps is made of plastic. This was to prevent corrosion, however was never designed to last longer than 5 years. What you need to do is purchase the new style water pump. These new style water pumps have been designed with a metallic propellor which should resolve the overheating. Let us know how you get on.

SOURCE: inner door panel removal, renault megane scenic

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls

I have a 2015 Renault Traffic Sport 115dci. I've changed the thermostat and the radiator since then the heating is blowing cold air I've bleed the system a few times still cold. Any ideas?

I just wrote a Tip on this subject. Your technique didn't work and you have air in the system. I have highlighted the parts you may have missed.

Tip & How-To about Cars & Trucks

Vehicle Cooling System? No Heat? Overheating? You have AIRLOCKS.
So you replace the radiator, replace a radiator hose, or flush your radiator and refill the system only to find you have no heat and yet the vehicle is overheating! Why is that?

You have air in the system especially in the heater matrix which is dry of coolant and the water is not cycling and cooling through the radiator. For the cooling system to work it must be full of coolant with no air in there at all. There are videos, but basically, these as the steps.

You remove the radiator cap, as opposed to the reservoir cap.
You elevate the front of the vehicle because the heater matrix is up in the dashboard.
You start the car and put the heating on FULL heat.
Start the car, keep topping up until the cooling fans kick in.
Squeeze the bottom radiator a few times, and rev the engine a few times as it is warming up.
Turn off the engine, and top up one last time.
Put the radiator cap on and top up the reservoir, put the cap back on. Check for leaks.

How can I locate the blower fan resistor on a Renault scenic 2000 1.6 been looking all over can not get behind dash . Grant

check with an auto electrician familiar with Renault as it may not have resistors but be controlled by a module that has gone faulty.. If not he will be able to tell you where the resistor are.( they are mostly in the heater box above the blower fan as they use air movement from the fan to keep cool)

My Renault Megane Scenic S reg heater is not working

Most likely to be a faulty resistor block, which has 3 resistors and a thermal fuse controlling fan speeds 1,2 and 3, maximum speed 4 by-passes the resister block. It may also be poor electrical connections to the resistor block caused by overheating. Renault ask for approximately £350 to carry out repairs, a replacement resistor block will cost £50. If you decide to carry out the repairs yourself, be advised that if you are not competent to carry out such work you, could cause electrical damage or worse an electrical fire.
