Show me a picture of the water pump on a 2000 Chrysler Cirrus LXI

The pump is part of the timing components. You only want to do this one time. So replace all the timing components. You don't have to replace the crank or cam gears.

How much would a replacement Water pump cost?

On a Dodge Stratus, you cannot just change the water pump (more properly called "coolant pump") alone, since it is powered by the timing belt, such that you need a complete set that includes the pump, the timing belt and the tensioner. If you decide to just change the pump (or the belt) alone, the other will fail soon. To find the parts cost, first find the engine that your car has, then go to Gates.com and find the replacement set that corresponds to your engine, then go to your favorite parts store and buy a matched set. But beware that changing the pump (or the belt, for that matter) IS NOT AS EASY as changing them in an older car, because the available space in the Stratus is very tight, and you will find that you have to remove many more components and a lot more disassembly just to reach the pump and belt; in other words, if you have the time, tools and available place to do a longer than usual repair, go ahead. But be warned it is much more difficult than in older Dodges, like the Spirit (which requires less than a fourth of the time to do!). So much for "advanced" designs...

I've just been quoted the price of $1465 for replacing the computer engine + a new battery for my 2000 Dodge Stratus at the dealership. Is this a reasonable charge or not?

When you say new engine I have to assume we are talking a manufactured short block engine. Here is a list price of just such an engine:
CHRYSL 2 122 4 C 2000-01 Neon, Stratus, Breeze,FWD,SOHC, MFl, 16 Valve,upper blk #642,651,lower blk #769,head #737,crank #755,valve cover has 10-6mm bolts, extra 8mm bolt under #2 &#3 intake port,with water pump Head part # call DD91 $1,990
Here is a page you should view for brand new engines as a comparison.

If your going to get a manufactured short block engine replacement, and an engine computer along with a new battery AND labor you are getting a fair price.

Thanks for using FixYa.

2000 Stratus ES all the fan belts came off due to age, how difficult is it to put new fan belts on and the proper procedure to install.

If I am not mistaken there should only be one Power steering belt and on alternator belt.. my bigger concern is if your belts were so old that it came off then how old is your timing belt? Much like your other belts it is made of rubber and is designed to be replaced at different mileage intervals. I would highly recommend that you get your vehicle to a Mechanic and have it changed. This is not a cheap repair but much cheaper than bent valves if that belt breaks too.
IF your timing belt had been changed then they would have also replaced your other belts, also have the water pump replaced while they are replacing your timing belt as it runs off the timing belt.

Cost to replace the water pump

Anytime you want this kind of info call the dealer and ask them what the book says as far as hours charged for that job. The pump should be 2 hrs at 75.00 an hour give or take. Hope it helps.
