Stuck seat - 3rd row seating

I have a ford explorer with the push button 3rd row seating. One of the seats is stuck in the flat position. Is there a way to manually raise it?

    One of the third row electric seats is stuck in the down position , The motor works but does not turn the screw shaft. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the same problem the passengers side 3rd row seat is stuck in the down position. The motor works 'cuz it will move it a little bit both up and down (about 1/16")

    I have the same issue as stated above...I can hear the motor run but the seat does not move. Very Frustrating!

My 2006 Explorer has the same problem mabe from trying to lift it with something on it. I dont know but I was able to raise and lower it manualy by lifting as I held in the button. I am in the middle of taking it apart. the motor has two parts it is easy to get the electric part out I am still trying to get the black gear box off. going to try to finish tomorrow. Dealer wants $600

Maybe you have a blown fuse, have you checked it ? The owners manual has a diagram of the interior fuse box, what amp to use, etc. You can visually see if the fuse is blown just like a light bulb. If not, then you may have an electrical problem which also has to do with the fuse box, etc.

Wiggle the seat back while holding down the release button...pull forward first...then back...Hope this helps.

Try disconnecting the power wire to the seat then reconnecting again to see if it starts working again.

Does 2003 Ford Explorer have 3rd row seat


The third seat was an option on this model. Your model may or may not have the third seat. You should be able to tell by looking at the floor in the back. Ford may have included the rear cup holders on all models for ease of production.

Third-row bench stuck in down position


check for seat belt stuck in crack between seats back and cushion.

remove seat cusion to see if soemthing is stuck. see owner manual for directions. here's explorer

  1. Release the two seat levers located at the lower outboard edges of the seat cushion. Lift out the seat cushion.
