SOURCE: 2000 Elantra Overheating

First when vehicle is cold like in the morning check and make sure that the vehicle has enough coolant/ antifreeze in radiator and reservoir. If coolant is need use a 50/50 mixture of water and antifreeze. You will need some time to do this let car run at idle until the temp guage is in the middle NOT+ normal operating temperature. At this point if the thermostat should be in the open position. Let vehicle run and check to make sure that radiator fan comes on. This should come on when guage is about midway/half way. If temperature rises above half going to h/hot and fan doesn't come on, you either have a BAD FAN BAD FAN SWITCH BAD FAN RELAY OR BLOWN FAN SWITCH FUSE. You will need to check all of the following I will help if its needed. If fan comes on and doesn't go off and vehicle continues to get hot even with fan running. Feel radiator hoses and see if the lower radiator hose is cool/cold. If it is you have thermostat that stuck closed. Replace thermostat and fix problem. If all the above is good and vehicle continues to over heat. THE BAD NEW IS THAT YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET /CRACKED HEAD /BROKEN WATER JACKET. Basically you will need a HEAD JOB at least a head gasket. ONe tell tail sign of this is oil looking like milkshake/chocolate milk-a creamish while residue in oil or antifreeze. Contact if you need hel0p. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: Audi A3 2002 model auto - temperature gauge not working

The guage and fan speeds work on independant sensors. If you can remove the plastic engine cover and locate the "sending unit" for the gauge disconnect it and restart the engine. The gauge should remain cold and not move. If this is the case replace the sending unit. This should be a single wire sender located in the waterjacket of the intake manifold look in the area where the upper rad hose enters the intake.

SOURCE: I have an Audi TT Coupe - 2002 - and the gas gauge

Rick, Unfortunately, you aren't alone. This is a fairly common problem on the Audi. Price of the panel replacement is in line. Just get a warranty on the panel, in case its a sending unit problem instead of the panel.

SOURCE: Code P0118 on Audi A4 - Related to Ignition Coil Problem?

Hi, the sensor on the engine (right at the rear end of the cylinder head) has two separate outputs. One drives the temperature gauge and the other provides data for the engine control unit. The output for the engine control unit is almost certainly faulty and the sensor will need to be replaced. It isn't an expensive item and's not time consuming to replace (1/2 hr) - so you could ask Audi to do it for you when they replace the ignition coils.
Hope that helps Matt..

Why does my audi tt temp. gauge go hotter than engine temp. fans work changed thermosat , temp sensor ,and water is ok ?

Hi
i suppose i have to ask how it is that you know these temperatures are different?
is the car actually overheating?
Have you had it scanned for any fault codes?
You may have a defective temp guage...check it by removing the sender plug and see if the guage falls totally to zero...earth the guage wire and see if the guage goes to max.

Very loud noise coming from rear like metal on

Most likely it's your low brake pads indicator that is making the noise and they need to be replaced soon before rotor damage happens.
